Installation Freezes

when i try to install ns it freezes after i t asks me if i want to install gamespy what do i do to fix this problem

    You don't have to install gamespy arcade, how exactly does it screw up, what version of HL do you have? Won? Old Won? Steam? Dod Retail? CS Retail? HL Retail? System Specs?

    i have a 2.5 ghz windows xp hl is 1.1.1.0 idk about won , i also have the new steam and cs is 1.6on steam and idk what video card i have but when it freezes it just shows the background of the installation and nothing happens my mouse still moves and i can get in to other programs
