But i do not know where to find the file that runs in Photoshop 7 that automatically slices the image for you, and makes it the same names as the one in the /resources directory.

    i don't think that photoshop has one, but paintshop pro does, i think i saw it here in the customization forums, or somewhere on the steam forums.

    You can do slicing in PS7, no big deal <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> I would ask steam skiners how to do it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I couldn't find the link to the original, but I uploaded to my site a program that cuts up an image and formats it to replace your background image. Worked nicely for me.

    It's a stand-alone program that creates your background for you.

    XtremeFear, it formats it to allow you to post it as a background. It shrinks it, cuts it, and saves it as a different format than jpeg. All you can do is modify the brightness, contrast, and other similar settings before you put it through the program. If someone has a better solution, I'm all ears.

    well i said a picture from supoercars.net as a .bmp, and then converted it to a .jpg, and when i opened the image, and viewed it, it looked crappy as hell, and when i looked at the 12 saved files, it was all pixeled*not in the game though* i did not put it in the steam folder, so i woule not mess the regular one up

    well i tried it and got a error

    R_LoadTGA: Only type 2 and 10 targa RGB images supported

    Isn't the only file type supported targa? If you played with jpegs and bmps, that could have easily been your problem. If it didn't look like a picture at all, but rather more like noise, that's probably the issue.

    I'm not sure how picky steam will be about the TGA type either, so I'm going to guess 16-bit uncompressed (not RFA).

    The final format is targa, but you can feed a jpeg or bmp into the program I posted. Keep in mind that if the image is not in 800x600 then it will look crappy. (as said in the instructions)
