[mreq]starcraft Buildings

<div class="IPBDescription">Starcraft pack</div> I've noticed a lot of Starcraft Models, specially for the player models. A lot would need to be done to have a completed pack for Starcraft; but I think it would be most worth while.

I installed the Alien models, and it was a completely new game to me, until I installed the Marine model....and it just blew me away, i was playing a FPS SC. There's a few guns and models that could be used as "personalized" weapons (IE the Warspike thats being worked on) as well as structures that could be used that would go with the SC theme, like the siege cannon from the spec ops pack. Some work would have to be done to make a full conversion, and sadly I have no artistic abilities in either the real world or the digitial one; and any sprite or model I do could probaby be better done by a 2 year old monkey named bobo the fire breathing chimp.(though....what couldn't a 2 year old monkey named bobo the fire breathing chimp do?)

I would do the pack (though...thats the easiest part) I would just need help making the pack everything it could, and should be, specially for a SC enthusiest like myself. Anyone willing to give it a shot?

    For the zerg, i thought the following structures could be used
    RT) Obvious Choice The Extractor, but the hard part would be scaling it/modifying it to fit it to a NS Resource Tower
    OC)Spore tower. It would be too hard to go for the sunken colony due to how it works.
    DC) Now, you have 2 choices...and then a 3rd practical option. the two obvious choices would be the Evolution chamber, or the Hydrolisk Den. but the 3rd practial option is the Creep Colony, due to the looks. (though, if you wanted the challenge, try for the evolution chamber)
    MC)Nydus Canal, very obvious choice, and looks like it could be scaled to be a good MC
    SC) Hmm, good question, what could be used? There's nothing other than an Overlord that really helps w/ sensory in SC...but there's currently an overlord model for the hive, so an alternitive for looks, and somewhat interesting choice....the spire, or greater spire (the greater spire looks cooler <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    Now for the Terran Structures: Very hard...only got 3 stuctures from the game
    RT)once again the human gas collector the Refinery, and once again, scaling would be hard..perhaps alternative...
    Turret)I didn't really find a good choice for a turret other than the Missle tower
    Obs)Communication Tower ad-on to the Command Center.

    i know what put for sentry, seen those trap sentries what come out of walls in Singleplayer missions and some of them in custom mp maps, well modify them a bit and make a tripod for them. And Voi'la we have a Turret.

    also if this is going to happen, we'll need more modelers and animators.

    If push comes to shove i could do a few rough sketches i suppose (but i warn you, i <i>really</i>suck at drawing...i have trouble drawing stick figures...)

    I like your ideas for the Zerg buildings, I think those would all fit very well.
    -For the HA, I think a Goliath model would work even better, though it'd be more difficult to model and make it realistic looking while still fitting inside the hitbox. It could be done if the pilot seat were made closer to the ground. Though the Firebat is more practical.
    -Ghost w/ a jetpack would be perfect.
    For the guns, you wouldn't have to make new ones, just look at the many excellent replacement guns already out there, find the ones you think would fit the universe best, and ask the authors if you can include it. Also, the Stealth Marine would transition easily into ghost w/ JP.
    I'm going to have to vote for the Missile Turret as a replacement for the sentry... it would scale down well.

    Good luck Restrik! I'm rooting for you! Even if you don't get a complete set, see if you can post what you end up with.

    I was playing with the models on my client, and here's what i did, the Marine pack that I downloaded has 3 different models, 2 of which are idenical except one has a visor and one doesn't ( i perfer the one w/ the visor) and it comes w/ another one labled "smart gun" don't know why, but i just renamed it "heavy" and it worked fine.

    there is no sepereate JP model...so i saw the Marines in full gear fly around w/ a JP.

    There are a lot of models that could be used to be "starcraft" like. the Missle Turret wouldn't really work as anything now that I look back on it due to is size, and it would be weird to see it half your size.

    I'll hope around some custom model sites and see what might work and what might not.

    If someone could post a list of a bunch of NS custom model sites...that would help a lot, i know of nsarmslab, t2k, and of course ns-fr.com where i got the circle command chair.

    and by all means, if anyone has any suggestions for models they think would be appropriate for such a Pack....post em!

    also we still need modelers, animators, and skinners.

    The reason one is labelled smart gun means that is has "smart gun" animations with it.

    Meaning it will work properly if you download a weapon meant to be held 'smartgun' style like in Aliens II

    If not your heavy machine gun is gonne be sticking upward, hehe

    damn...does anyone know where Unleet is? and do you think he could update/modify his marine skins, atleast the "smart gun" oens to not be animated for the smartgun or atleast add a seperate model for unsmartguned model?

    also the C20 could use both marine and heavy hands other than the normal tsa marine hands...

    /edit same goes for a lot of the alien models....though those are just things that need to be done on their own.

    the only one that has any difference to it is the gorge. the skulk still has its teeth then they should be claw like, the fade just need to be re-skined b/c the claws would work fine, the onos needs big claws as well, and the lerk could use teeth like things i suppose

    I think it's fine for zerglings to bite and the lerk weapons would be ok for the mutalisk. Fade would be a challenge but the v_model shouldn't need to be changed (cept maybe a color change). I think the missile turret would make a fine sentry - once you take it out of context it would work fine as 3 feet tall. On the same note - didn't you recommend greater spire for sensory and spore cloud for OC? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i got the pack of the zerg models but i was wondering if anyone could make or already has the v_model (i think is what its call, the thing that shows on you screen) for 3.0 lerk and onos. also the v_model animation for the zergling is kinda not really animated at all. i am thinking toss in a new sound recorded from sc and make the claws move, cause right now when you bite they do not.

    while that is part of the SC universe...it doesn't exactly fit due to the fact that its protoss which doesn't really help the terrans at all
