Strange Problem,

<div class="IPBDescription"> can't connect to server</div> I am using Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 1 (5.1 - 2600) on ISDN.
Intel Pentium 4, 2600MHz 512MB of memory. My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440.

Problem: On connecting to an NS (all other games AND mods work) server the box that displays when you are waiting to join a full server comes up, my shown ping to the server goes up to 9999 and then my internet on this computer doesn't work until I reset my router.

Forgot to add: NS actually ran for a whole day the day before this started, nothing was uninstalled or installed during this period, in fact, I wasn't on my computer between the time I stopped playing and wanted to start. And it is my computer so no one else was on it either.

Solutions I have tried:
1) Uninstall/Reinstall Natural Selection completely.
2) Uninstall/Reinstall Steam Completely

The problem is persisting, anyone know what this must be?

Check your console to be sure that there aren't any messages being spammed there. Sometimes you get cl_maxerrordistance being spammed and that hogs up bandwidth. There's a fix in the stickied topic in this forum.

I installed the new patch and tried the fix you described. I ran multiple virus scans, but I've still got the problem. Man, this is crazy, I swear if I don't fix this it's going to drive me insane. I hate not knowing why something doesn't work.

hmm. try deleting ur config.cfg file as well as any other cfg files (like user created ones)

then the game should automatically make a new one for u. if not, try deleting them then copying a friend's cfg or reinstalling ns?

this is kinda a longshot but something tells me its worth trying.

Strange, I had the same problem and deleting registry keys solved the problem for me too.

I deleted all instances of Steam in the registry except for the uninstall and start menu related keys. Hopefully thats a bit more specific.
