I got 2mbit connection and a 3.0ghz comp. When i join servers were i get like 30 ping i often get chokes and losses what's the cause of that?
I heard about changing rate and so i did lost many chokes and losses but they still remain... And now when i changed rate (and something like sv_updaterate or something) and holds fire it sometimes stop then starts again playing bite/shoot animation. Can any 1 help me get everithing right? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Choke is the amount of data that isn't getting to the server from your computer. Loss is the amount of data coming from the server that you don't recieve. Given that you have a 2Mb/s the chances are the problem is the server. Anyway, to reduced both of them raise the 'rate' command in the console. e.g. 'rate 20000' for your connection.

    To clearify what varisty said.
If you're getting choke you're most likely trying to send too much info to the server.
    Vice versa for loss.
To fix it you'll have to mess with cl_updaterate, rate etc etc. There is an old post about this somewhere but it's mostly CS people who whine about it, I've left all my rates at default and it's working fine.
