Combat is a fast and furious alternate gameplay mode, where waves of marines and aliens fight each other in short, intense games. It forgoes the strategy elements (most notably the Commander, resources, and tech tree) of the NS game mode. Players are rewarded for kills by gaining access to better weapons and equipment (marines), or abilities and lifeforms (aliens). The marines win by killing the alien hive; the aliens win by killing the marine command console.

everyone except supernorn2000 is a lazy bast***! (for the most part!)
NS:C as it is referred is a new map-based play type like the different map types in counter-strike.
NS:C's main points are: - There is no commander/gorge evolution. - You buy your weapons/upgrades/evolutions/equipment with points when you gain a level. - You get levels by defeating enemies and by being near someone whom has defeated a enemy. - Your goal as a marine is to destroy the Kharaa's hive; the goal as the Kharaa is to destroy the marine's command chair - the secondary goal is to destroy the armory and any other buildings in the marine base. - The maps are far smaller then normal NS maps - There are far more fights - There is little/no stragetic element to NS:C (There are no resource nodes or buildable buildings)
Natural-Selection: Combat maps are played on co_ maps. normal Natural-Selection can be played on ns_ maps. combat is not meant to replace NS, it is only there to relive the stress of playing a NS map for too long or too many times. If you want to play combat, you have to find a server hosting a co_mapname map to be able to play.

Another locking candidate.
Like, will you still have to make bases at all or is it just like a game of counterstrike or something?
Oh and it says you get exp in Combat, but will there be and exp/leveling system in 3.0?
