I don't think the game will be any good by now

I'm beyond caring for a release date of this. It's been too many years now.

Whenever it is out, i'll buy it, but i won't go around believing release dates, given DNF's history.

Duke3D was released back in 1996 (Possibly late '95, i can't remember), and they milked that for a bit (Addon packs, etc), so we're probably talking about 1997 before they properly started work on it. But still, that's like 6-7 years.

I have games magazines back from '98-'99 with previews and release dates in.

Just release it as freeware. They'll probably make more out of donations of sympathy then by selling it.

I always liked in the release date section of Computer Gaming World how they would always change the release date every month with the new issues.

It got up to 2004, 2005, 2012,2104, 2222, and then to simply N/A.

Wait, so we're acctually suppose to believe that this is the real release date? We're acctually suppose to expect it out by X-mas time THIS year? Some flying pigs stopped by my house and told me about a cold day in hell...

So um... what makes anyone think Rockstar has anything to do with Duke Nukem Forever? Last I heard 3D Realms is still doing it...

It seems perfectly logical if you think about it...

    Consider:
Rockstar has been getting some serious flak from the mass media over their last several releases, despite being hailed by critics and gamers alike. They don't want to compromise what they do (ie: making badass games). Solution? Work on venerable franchise like Duke Nukem, a game with attitude, cursing and huge amounts of violence, which has been around before anyone had ever heard of Rockstar, while at the same time avoiding negative publicity simply because they'll never actually have to release the game. Brilliant in a sick way, to be honest. How can you be sued for a game which never sees the light of day?

Anybody have a link with some "up to date" screen shots. This game better have great graphics, physics, gameplay and AI for the amount of time its been in development.

A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever.

/me points at Daikatana <Almost as much vapor ware as DNF, eventualy came out, sucked something hard.

personaly, I for see it going the rout of daikatana.

Unless Rockstar has ACTUALY picked it up (I doubt this) and is compleatly re doing the game (aka, makeing a new game and calling it DNF)

/me goes and does some google action

Rockstar Games are the publisher. 3D Realms are the developer. Capice?
Rockstar have absolutely nothing to do with when the game's finished, they just handle production of material and promotion once the game is good to go.

Personally I believe that, although they've ironically taken near forever to do it, DNF will one day grace out shores. I don't really care when, cause there's so many other games that take my fancy, but when it does I'll be buying it, and the Dukester will deliver.

Ironicly, I am now wishing it never get released, ever.

It has become computer gaming lore now.

It will just feel like losing this inexplicable 'thing'.

hmmm, I can't see any mention of 3D realms being involved with rockstar in any way on the rockstar website, that being said, they arn't mention the games they are currently producing either.
