in hl, when you start a multiplayer game, there cannot be scientists, barneys or other monsters be inside it. They just disappear. When you start the same map in sp mode, they are there. Maybe it is a cool idea to be able to place monsters in your map, so people can make there own co-op maps for ns (not for the official mappack, but just for fun), and the mapper could add a cool intro cutscene when the game starts for the marines, using barneys with the marine model etc.

no one is going to want a n00b as a commander, he controls too much to let him screw u over...
so how will new players learn to be a commander effectively? hopefully there will be alot of strategy guide literature available on rr.org, nsworld or the outpost, but it might be nice to have bots to train with...
keep new players from becoming discouraged
like in OF4 where someone gives u orders - and there u can become a commender and command "robotic" bots against "robotic" aliens - like in game starship troopers
(robotic cos in real life nobody plays with human lives by feating them to aliens cos one commander wants to train himself up - so there could be droids sort of robots
(but what about alien training then ?)
