Gamesnet Has Finally Gone...

to the big netsplit in the sky
Clicky
GamesNET has lost some lawsuit over their name and has had to rename it self to gamesurge, and now in IRC it's the netsplit of the century.

I'm fine with everything but that. I was never to attached to gamesnet.
SSOOO weird.
and yes, gamesnet had a 5 hour long fart today. Sucks for anyone who had anything planned, considering gamesnet gave out no real notice, besides sending /notices to the main window, which no one read anyway (or could understand for that matter). gg customer support!

But seriously, who were they being sued by, and do they really hope to use the gamesnet name?
why must people sue over everything these days?
Because that's how you get money.
"Who do you know that we can sue?"
You're a customer of a service whether you buy something or not. The gamesnet userbase are/were all customers of gamesnet. [/definition pickiness]
If you haven't got the patience to read them, my take on the subject is that the board of directors sent falsified documents to the webhost of gamesnet which allowed them to change admin passwords and such. This locked the founder of the service out, and he lost everything he had created. So, he sued. Take that with a grain of salt however, as I have never heard the other side.

[grossly off-topic]
I have learned the futility of reasoned arguing on this forum, so here instead of me going to any real effort are a bunch of definitions for you. Note how it isn't specified that a monetary transaction (or other trade) is a requirement: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...ine%3A+customer
Gamesnet provide a service. We use that service, and therefore are customers of Gamesnet. There are a great many organisations who provide a service for no charge, and their users are their customers.
[/got]
Does it have to be switched to something like west.gamesurge.net? I have no clue how to edit IRC settings properly when it comes to using it through Trillian, (and yes, I know Trillian is not the wisest choice to use IRC through).
