How Many Times Has This Happened To You?

<div class="IPBDescription">"Who the heck won that game? And Why?"</div> With a bunch of new players coming into the beta, one of my continuuing pet peeves with the mod has come up more and more often, especially with combat.
That peeve? The fact that it's often hard to tell who won the game. I mean, this is a mod in which you put in potentially hours into a single game sometimes. Yet, when the game ends, it's a huge confusing letdown. All you get is "Team One won the game." Most players don't know whether that's aliens or marines.
Worse, games sometimes end because of an auto-forfiet, like when half the alien team drops. And still: there's no way to tell what happened. Did we win because we destroyed the hive? Or because the team dropped? If you were busy somewhere else on the map (as happens very often in combat: sometimes you'll be busy taking down the command chair to 4 health when the hive goes down). Knowing how important keeping teams balanced is is important. But NS both punishes players for unfair teams (auto-forfiet) and yet doesn't make it clear what happened or why. It's confusing as all heck.
I know, I know, there are ways for experienced players to tell these things. But the point is that it should be clear and obvious to everyone, so that we don't have to hear "what the heck happened?! Who won?!" constantly on audiochat. It's a major element of polish that NS has been missing for quite awhile. Most other mods have team-specific vitory songs and sounds. NS doesn't even have game-specific text announcements for endgames.
Anyone else wish endgames had more oomph to them?

May i direct your attention to <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=59633&hl=team' target='_blank'>this</a> thread? Theres a post there which shows you how to edit your titles.txt file, to make it more comprehensible.
But yea, i'd like to see messages like "Kharaa Forfeit" and "The TSA eradicated all alien existance on board this specific vessel so celebrate yay" or something.
Maybe this belongs in I&S?
Team One Has Won The Game.
Who??
I'm stupid.
Kinda adds to the already gloomy atmosphere to see those messages. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Much fun to be had! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If you are still confused, well... my personal suggestion would be to go back to playing CS.

Yes, that's heplful. But you actually play the game on a computer? What a loser! A REAL NS player player plays the paper and pencil version of the game!
Seriously: this is a basic feature of any good conversion: you make it seamless and fit the theme. NS changes the basic a Half life weapons to fit it's world, so why not the generic win/lose text? It's not really that complex: that guass gun model you see on the screen is really a grenade launcher? Okay? Get it now, N00B!?
So arguing that you can work out what happened is a useless comment for two reasons:
1) it alienates new players who will be confused, when there is no reason to confuse them.
2) it breaks the basic law of game design that players should get informative feedback about all major game events, and that this should be as clear and as thematically adapted as possible.
Yeah, I can change my titles.txt (though for some reason, it doesn't seem to work for me: I still get the same messages even with the text being changed). But that's not the point.
That said, sure, it'd be nice to have stuff... Especially for new players. Purty sounds, full of pomp and... pomp, for the marines. Cheers? Lotsa sex and beer? Sure beats a slightly cheerful 4 second clip!
Aliens, well, them pesky buggers don't win, everyone knows that. Sometimes we let them pretend, but, shh, don't tell them that.
hehe, when I first heard both of them, I thought one was tragic and the other was.... depressing/tragic. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
