dont you hate it...
Used to hate the lerk flight but after some practise im a star now and love it but i have one problem and i wanna know how common it is for NS:combat this is.
You and another guy (or more) are lerking, flying round absolutely caning, you come flying round a corner to rip apart some rines and you realise your other lerk buddy coming straight at you with low HP. You slam into each other so you fly higher to get passed and he mirrors you for the same reason. You go left he mirrors you again.... Long story short he dies and in the confusion you die.
Then the best part is the guy that was flying out flames your nads off for blocking him.
I found this quite common for myself and found it so very ironic considering the lerk is built for maneuverability.
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and the utter crack up when you get slaughtered.

Like watching a mime copy you, annoying as, yet in both instances you know its a life or death situation. (i really hate mimes! I just wish they'd stay stuck in their stupid invisible boxes! (yes i was traumatised when i was younger)).

Yumosis - the trouble is, the other lerk pulls up at the same time as you. Then, having lost all momentum, you both try to go right, then left, then back off...and at that point, he's dead and you're about to join him. D:
Kekekeke idea!
As for the problem....nah not really. But I do have a hard time trying to do fly-by bites as I tend to bump into marines a lot while attempting them.
Another lerking problem I've encountered is running out of stamina. Example situation:
I've just spored/umbraed(?)/primal screamed and my stamina is low. Behind the corner comes a crazed shotgun marine trying to blast me to kingdom come. I turn around pressing space repeatedly. First I launch forward with great speed, but when stamina runs completely out, I stop like I hit a wall. Desperately I try to smash my space bar, but my lerk is still sitting there. A moment later I sit in the respawn queue
Otherwise, I stay as far back as possible and blanket umbra as much as I can. I see umbra as an extra 2/3 life for every alien (except for mines and nades) - because that is ultimatly how it works out. Possibly the most overpowered, underused skill in the game. I love it!!
Good players and good group team players such as those in clans and so forth generally practice to avoid this kind of thing, or at least I imagine they SHOULD if they don't, since no real life combat group allows themselves the luxury of being noobs and blockers. Another good idea is to practice not running in front of anyone's Line Of Sight, since if your shoulders are in between their gun and the skulk jumping at your face, the guy behind you isn't going to be able to help you in the least until you die and he can shoot at the enemy through your falling corpse.
Please people, space yourselves out just a little bit from now on, and watch for the white blips on your HUD as aliens to turn red for being fired at, and when they do, back off and open a little space in case they don't want to go down in a blaze of glory.
I dunno most lerkers, but my natural instincts tell me to dive when something is coming at me like that. Comes from an old sega airplane combat sim game. A missle comes and I dive then pull up, lost the missle most often.
NOLF 2. Oh the horror.

I like.
I have been chatting with a few mates who've messed around with combat and they mostly agreed that the mirroring was very common.
Ah well laughs to be had when i next play combat as a lerk... Say hi if i happen to be the one you run into

My name is Agarwaen in game, perhaps some of you have seen me as my uber-lerk. I've been called a hacker several times so far.
But the topic at hand: Yes, this happens to me fairly frequently. Unlike many people, i simply laugh it off. It's a game, and if you die you respawn 5 seconds later. No reason to get md and start yelling "omg bl0x0r nub!!!111eleven". As a celerity Lerk I tend to not have exactly the finest control on turns, as I am going about a billion miles an hour.
Oh, and Retales, try tapping your jump key a few times and then holding it down. Gliding uses no energy. Gliding is my friend
