Control Lag/freakout

<div class="IPBDescription">mouse/keyboard don't work for a bit</div> Generally, every three seconds or so, my mouse and keyboard sputter out and stop responding for half a second. It gets kind of irriating. Any ideas how to fix it?

I've tried reinstalling video drivers, DX9, etc.

Could be your wireless card searching to connect to a network, a sound problem or piece of hardware trying to shutdown to save power.

yeah, also, try disabling as much background applications as possible before starting steam.
