Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I'm having. My college is blocking p2p connections with their big fat firewall. Would it be possible for me to connect through port 80 which is not blocked?
yeah, and about a million other things... I've tried different programs and I seem to have the same results in all of them. REaaally slow downloads (1kbps max)
weve got the same, and the only fixes ive found require you to have another computer with a different isp, then you can do http tunneling, so your local net thinks it is web traffic.
yeah I kinda figured that out, but can't seem to find a reasonable proxy <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'd recommend reviewing your TOS on the net connection. Most colleges specifically say 'no P2P' in there somewhere. So, unless you break down and get your own ISP rather than mooching, I'd have to say that you're pretty much borked. Your connection can't do it, the SysOps have specifically set up rules AGAINST it, which means breaking your contract to circumvent, which means that it's illegal, which means that it does not get discussed on these boards. If the TOS does not include those stipulations, and the sysop has some OTHER reason to block P2P ports, feel free to PM me and explain, for an unlock. Thanks!
