Half-life Sounds?

<div class="IPBDescription">Why is this so hard, or why am I so dumb</div> Okay, used that nifty halflife .gcf extractor (whatever it's called) and yanked out the ambients. Tossed 'em in steamapps/half-life/valve/sound/

Find the one I like, go in and toss it into my ambient_generic. Map won't load, says
Error: server failed to transmit file 'sound/D

Okay I know the solution to this is probably stupidly obvious... how the hell do I get them that there sounds to done play!

EDIT: Gah, I guess it's NOT as easy as that... apparently I just have to extract the sounds I want and put them in my nsp file for distribution with my map :/

    if you put the sounds you want in your:

    Steam\SteamApps\youremail@yourhost\half-life\nsp\sound\ambience

    and set the ambient_generic to play a sound for example:

    sound/ambience/thesoundyouwant.wav

    It should work <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I thought this is only necessary for custom sounds? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    i got news for ya, anything for ns is 'custom' by valve standards. You would only be able to get away with it if you were designing a regular half-life map.
