yes yes I know
There was a post a while back about Shoot!, a program that used voice recognition. Unfortunatly I am a nublet at computer stuffs, so I have no idea how to use it. All I want to do is to talk to my computer to write an essay, and I havn't the slightest Idea how to do it.

I used the trainer in Shoot! and it said I already had software or something (I have winXP). I just need some help in finding it on my computer, and using it.

EDIT: Probobly should have posted on tech support. Just realized that.

Windows XP (Pro?) has it built in; I just configured it. It's super duper cool to type everything in MSWORD by just talking. My uncle swears by voice recognition programs; he forces everyone in his office to use it on their computers because it doubles - triples productivity. Imagine where we'll be in 10 years.

I'm not quite sure about Shoot! but Microsoft should be able to help you out in Word.

I tried it out in MSWord. It's quite funny tbh I had to shout most of the time. You have to switch between command and write mode. If I want to save my work I would have to say:

"COMMAND! FILE! SAVE AS! *type in file name* OK! TEXT MODE! *continue shouting my essay into the computer.

It's great for a laugh, especially if someone is watching you.

Apparently it comes with MS Office 2003...which I don't have. Now I'm all infuriated and stuff .

Something tells me you're easier off typing the essay than going through the trouble of shouting your computer word-by-word.

Skimming the posts, it seems noone has said anything worth it. Shoot uses the microsoft word recognition program known as SAPI.

I don't know of any free programs that incorperate a writing out feature, though.

I don't think so, that looks like it's probably programming code for people to incorporate voice recognition into their VB and such programs.

    OfficeXP comes with voice recognition.

    IT IS THE DEVIL.

Seriously, it starts a process that sits there and hogs up 25 meg of system memory and makes everything run bog slow.

I hate HATE HATE it. It's pretty good at what it's supposed to do though.

Shoot will not help you dictate an essay. At least you already trained it, so you won't have to do it again for other apps.

Go put in your office cds and browse through the menus until you find the voice rec stuff. Tools -> speech I think. It will install some stuff off the cd.
