Wow people are afraid of being generalised now? Ofcourse there's such a thing as an average American! The average American speaks with on of the American sounding accents, is highly individualistic and competetive and likely to be overweight. He is proud of his heritage and his country and will go to any length to remind us non-Americans <i>repeatedly</i> just how dang great his country is and how we are all so inferior in comparrison... Just because you don't fit in this profile 100% however doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. It's just an average, not an absolute definition of every single American on the planet.
What really gets to me about this whole nuclear debate is that everybody seems to be so quick to forget which country already has a history of resorting to the use of nuclear weapons. It'd be like your best friend buying a gun, shooting a bunch of people, then making a rule that nobody except him is allowed to carrying guns... Yeah sure, I feel safe now... NOT.
Yep, it's not exactly accurate to generalize an entire people or nation as large as the US, but _everyone_ I know in my 3,500 student high-school is biased against French people and casually call Middle Easterners terrorists even when it is a small percentage of those people that actually carry out terrorist attacks. It shows either how arrogant my classmates (or their parents, in the case of those too lazy to read the paper themselves) were from the beginning - or perhaps more frightening, how successful the American propoganda was after the attacks on 9/11.
I'm kind of undermining my own argument here, but I saw the towers fall on 9/11, and one of the very people who was on one of those planes had been living very near me as a '"sleeper" for a long time; I was at Ocean Pkwy. and Caton Ave, he was at East 3rd St. and Caton only a few blocks away. Chilling to think someone you routinely converse with is a terrorist whose objective is to kill innocents. It's worse when you know that from their perspective the civilians - including youself - aren't innocent at all.
I laughed at the premise, ie the topic's title. I chuckled once or twice. But on the whole, it's really not that good. Not all that bad an idea, but really shytie execution.

But not something a well adjusted person wouldnt take out of context. It's meant as a joke, treat it as such.
If someone says something unfunny, do one of the following things;
1: Laugh at the person for 5 seconds before saying the joke was unfunny and move on with the previous convo
2: Ignore it
3: Cough and create a moody silence
Admittedly it's a well done flash, it just dosent achieve any form of humour.
