    alias fade "slot2;+attack;slot1;-attack"

    You missed the -attack

    Generally when it ocmes to scripts where they have a + in front of them, there's always a counter-part to it, the -<i>x</i> comand

    There's +<i>x</i> and -<i>x</i>, where x is your command which requires such a switch.

    I thought scripts were disabled with the disabling of ';' ?

    Yes, a command that calls for HP and displays via text "Health!" IS SOOOOOOOOOO LAME CAUSE IT'S A SCRIPT [/sarcasm]

    ok, that's not lame, but scripting in order to get an advantage in the game, ie. easier kills, quicker movemtn etc.. is.

    No such thing, scripting is nothing more than customization.

    The old saying comes to mind "To each his own"

    i really dont understand how its possible to have a new script thread once a week, and how it throws the ns community into such an upheaval. scripts do not add any skill to any ppl, it is just customization as yumosis pointed out. they arent suddenly going to wall hack you, or be 1000x better. this is the only gaming community that takes a script to attack and switch weapons so seriously.
    it really is childish.

    Uh...Call me stupid but...i use lastinv <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Lastinv and so on are pretty much ingame default's...it's not any kind of scripts which crams half a dozen actions onto one button, or fires off the gun for you ect...

    no, there is no anti-scripting unless you enable mp_blockscripts 1 that disables wait and _special

    Question: How do you define a fair script? E.g. some people here believe that blink-swipe scripts are fair. How do you differentiate between these and pistol scripts?

    Personally, I think there is nothing wrong with scripts as long as they do not make up for a lack of skill. I.e. if you are incapable of blink-swiping or bunny hopping and you need a script to do so, that is bad. If you use scripts to make communication easier, or as a utility (e.g. you have a script to team_say "Come here if you need welding!" and select your welder) then there is nothing wrong. I don't think I could come up with a way to differentiate code-wise though, so I'd prefer to ban all scripts rather than allow all (the communication stuff can be done by binding two keys instead of one, the skill stuff would require that you actually have the skills).

    I have a script for that. Check it out.
    bind "mouse1" "+attack"
    It's teh win.

    you should know that you don't actually need that script <: just place your fingers to W, 1, 2 & mouse1 . Learn it, master it. Or rebind your keys q=slot1, e=slot2.
    aahhhhh.. its so easy its almost silly
  • ekentekent Join Date: 2002-11-08 Member: 7801Members
    This approach would never be useful to you.

    However, on topic, you need "wait;"s inbetween the commands, half life can't execute commands fast enough for the script to work.

    yea with fade i just use...q..for last inv..works just as good...ive seen my self do kills looked like i blinked though him and he died but i really slashed to..i was like omg hax!!but then remembered it was me playing and i really suck except for a few l33t kills

    What I do is something like this:

    bind mouse2 "+blink"
    alias +blink "weapon_blink"
    alias -blink "weapon_swipe"

    this way whenever you hold down mouse2 and attack, you will blink, and when you release mouse2 and attack you will swipe

    maybe its just me but you dont need to use ; to make a script :/ not going to write the method here but you would use exec?

    anyway i though it was just <b>wait </b>they took out

    There is a way to end this discussion forever, the developers could put approved scripts in the game. One for Blink/Swipe that could be used for Leap/Bite too, this would also even out the skill level needed to be an "1337" fade or skulk.

    Also, when I am playing and there is a super Fade or Skulk I tend to assume they are using a script, not that I mind its just a game.

    Makes me wonder why Flayra defaulted anti-scripting to OFF. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Meh, I don't care. Most of the really good players will say that scripts actually make them play worse anyway.

    I think scripts are lame. Just like cHIs- said:

    In a game I played a few minutes ago, I took down JP:ers with my fade. I don't think I would be so happy if I just had to press one button and turn my mouse a little bit to kill all of them. Instead, after 20 tries I got first one of them down by blinking, switch to slash, hit, blink away. I actually fealt that... I could do something right!!

    It was very rewarding feeling. If I had done it with a script... I'd think I'm lame <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo-->
