Sorry, I'm mistaken. impulse 107 does <b>not</b> work in NS.
As far as I know, Soylent just did it the hard way, by loading up wally and looking at the WAD files. You can use that, or you can use Hammer to open the WADs and then search for the appropriate textures.
You can just drop the relevant folders in your valve dir and go zooming around the map with noclip in regular HLDM. It's alot easier using impulse 107 than doing what I originally did(decompile the map and look at the names of included textures to figure out what the once I don't see in the regular NS, NS2 and HL wads where called <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->).

My Gf4MX will only go display detailed textures if I use rivatuner to force nv40 emulation, and guess what that does? It slaughters my performance and I get sub .1 fps. That is the ONLY way to view detailed textures on cards that can't see them otherwise.
i personally dont see much point in detail textures, im not out to look at the textures and it's usually off puting as only some of the textures in a map have detail textures for them, so some are high detail and some look plain, it just distracts the eye
In server changes of b5, it says <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->O Locked r_detailedtextures to 0 to prevent exploits.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Is that for the server only or does that mean no one can now use detail textures?
As of Beta 5, there is no detail texture usage. Apparently people were using them to screw up cloaking so they could see aliens at all times and other things like that. I wasn't aware you could apply detail textures to models, but whatcha going to do.
Soylent, you did good work. It was fun and nice looking while it lasted.

Don't feel too discouraged, guys. Voogru has recognized that we all love good graphics. To quote from <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79528' target='_blank'>here</a>:
