What's Scorpian That Hovars Without Flapping?

<div class="IPBDescription">????????????????</div> Oh well, we all know that the most famous non-NS alien around is probably the Scorpian That Hovars Without Flapping. I also know the idea was started from SmartBomb. My question is, why does so many people like it? I mean, it never was in the NS game, neither have Flayra or a mod ever mentioned it. Its also a silly idea by SmartBomb and from then on, I see a lot of people saying Scorpian That Hovars Without Flapping should be in NS or so.

Question is, is there really a reason for this Scorpian That Hovars Without Flapping to be so popular?

    I believe Flayra jokingly said he'd add a secret "Hovar without flapping" mode to the lerk sometime before.

    Other than that, it's just one of those things that are so ridiculously funny/dumb that they stick in people's minds.

    The whole issue reminds me of a little something we used to have over in the Utopia forums. I can't even remember how it started, must've been like 3 or 4 years ago, probably as an idea. It caught on and people started using frigates in various situations. Can't break that provinces' defenses? Not enough frigates. Science too costly? You need more frigates per acre. So on, so forth. Eventually people forgot what the heck it was all about in the first place and just said it for the sake of it.

    Morale of the story is: sure, it was funny for a while but it grew old quickly from over-usage, even when the word had lost all actual meaning. The story above ended with us deciding to ban the usage of it (we remove posts and threads about those damned frigates to this day). I can only hope that the same will be done to the rather innocent yet highly annoying statement mentioned here. Beating a dead horse is one thing, but this horse is not a corpse but a fossil by now. Let it die in peace already.
