Look, a while back there was a big arguement between the Savage people and us because one of their developers were slagging off our game. Eventually that dog S2Rocky came off his high horse, had a chat with flayra on ICQ and worked out that both NS and savage could exist without the universe imploding.
If you actually play savage you'll realise that the only thing copied is the commander mode, and the RTS/FPS combo is by no means invented or belonging to NS. Its been done before, it will be done again.
They didnt steal anything - the only really questionable thing about them is their claim "The first true RTS/FPS game ever".
Which is horse****
commander mode

and heres the FPS view

on top of that you can turn the tech trees in many difrent ways so the humans end up as huge high tech gun totering marines
Thats the only thing thats similar about NS and Savage - the commander mode, and the comm mode isnt something that we have copywrited.
Marines VS aliens fighting in ships/stations really cant be replicated on the Silverback engine. NS will remain unique no matter what mods go ahead on Silverback.
What's the worry here? So what if savage births a mod similar to this one? If it's poop we just continue to play NS if it's better then we go play that instead. More likely anything they make won't be the same so people might just end up playing both.
Don't know about you but I just go where the games and community are, I'm rarely bothered about who's making them ^^
As for it being a rip-off, I think that's been covered well enough to show that it isn't <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(and it's 'anata wa baka desu' ^~ )
Dude, Savage, two daughters are born to be saviour of humanity, one sees how the humans are treating the beasts, she leads them in revolt while the other one leads the humans in battle. NS: Aliens show up, kill stuff, naturally america declares war.
SO as long as they arn't fighting on a ship. With Phase Gate, and Infantry Portals, and HMGS, And Heavy Armor that goes CLUNK CLUNK *CHOMP* DIE. then the game is original. Welcome to the world of marketting!
PS: Learn to spell please.
"Whether you’re an FPS or RTS fan, Savage is a unique game that should appeal to both crowds."
at least youdont have to pay for the online element thankgod most games seem to that these days and since when did you have to spell in forums iv seen loads of peep going forshilal my nizal as ne bod boys in da hood
FPS/RTS is a genre. A genre cannot be copyrighted.
There are no aliens in savage. There are no HMGs, IP's, or Hives or onoses in savage.
The only things the games have in common are the following:
Both feature humans
Both feature weapons
Both feature commander modes (with a UI similar to the War3 interface)
Both are RTS/FPS hybrids
Now please lock this topic before my headache bursts out of my head and goes on a murderous rampage.
Please.
Maybe you should've spent the money on an english text...
Regardless this thread is stupid
*reported*
Savage is a much more open mass scale game, whereas NS focuses on tight small areas. Savage has two sides that resemble each other, NS has 2 widely different. Savage has a linear upgrade scheme where weapons become obsolete once you get new ones, NS is really quite different on that issue. Savage has NPCs controlled by the commander, NS doesn't.
I could go on all day like that. But I won't since I think I've already proved my point. And I'm not even discussing which is better (since that's a silly discussion).
This was brought up before, and settled. Read the last SIX threads about it, where the reasoning was repeated. I don't feel like typing everyhting out just because someone was too lazy to hit the search button before the 'new thread' button.
