<div class="IPBDescription">Because I'd like help ASAP plz</div> Hey, I'm trying to get B3 going, and I remember when the first Beta came out, my friend (whose computer I'm at now) had trouble getting it to work, he had to do something other than default with the install. As it stands, I installed B3 to the DEFAULT directory of Sierra. Is there something special I need to do to get it to work right? It's saying all the maps differ from mine, so I know something is awry here. Plz help me here guys, and thanks in advanced.

    Make sure you don't have a second 'nsp' directory lying around. For some reason the beta installers always automatically detect a path to my NSP directory, meaning that a second NSP directory gets made in them...

    I have an NSP directory inside of my Sierra folder. I tried installing the files there, but it still doesn't work.

    It's saying that my DLL file differs from the server or it says that my map differs...

    Ok , first of all Beta 3 is Steam only(ok it works in won, but its better to run it under steam). But in the installation process it checks whether steam is installed and ns auto-installs itself to the right directory. So that can't be your problem.
    The second thing is, ask yourself: "Which version are you running?"
    The current version is 3.0 - Beta 3. So get to the download page and download the 3.0 - Beta 1 FULL installer and after that the 3.0 - Beta 3 Patch.
    Now another thing could be, if you already have the current (beta 3) version then you are unable to connect to a server running 3.0-beta 2 . So always check if you have the same version as the server.

    In short :
    -check whether you isntalled the nsp in the correct directory (e.g. ...\Steam\steamapps\youremailaddy@provider.com\half-life)
    -check whether you have the current version
    -check whether you are joining a server running the current version

    I'm getting **** now.

    Paladin -- You're first "in short" I tried, and it seemed to install more files than before (after the map files) because I Hadn't tried that directory before. Jesus christ there's a thousand steam directories to try.

    So I did that then tried to get on -- nothing. Same frillin' error. DLL file.

    Alright guys, I just loaded a LAN game and tried the new HERA. It's the same as before, none of the B3 changes are there. So obviously, whatever directory it's using to load the maps, the new files aren't there. I need help plz. What directory EXACTLY should the new files be installed to??

    As it seems you have multiple steam installs on your harddrive.
    I would suggest you check out which one of those steams you are actually running by checking the destination where your shortcut (or startmenu link) links you to.
    Then uninstall all Steam installs except the one you are running.
    After that, run <b>regedit</b>. (In case you don't know, thats the registry editor of windows, be VERY carefully if you are changing anything there)

    1.Open the Folder <b>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE</b>
    -><b>\SOFTWARE</b>
    -><b>\Valve</b>
    -><b>\Steam</b>
    Now you should be there :<b>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam</b>
    Edit the String : <i>InstallPath</i> to target to your Steam directory.

    2. Go to :<b>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam</b>
    and edit : <i>ModInstallPath</i> and <i>SteamExe</i> to target the right directory

    3.Reinstall the whole Ns Beta.
    (more explanation : The Steam 3.0-beta1 installer checks that Strings (i dont know which one exactly) in the registry to find your steam directory; the Steam beta3 installer also seaches for that string but it still lets you choose which directory you want to install to)

    *edit*

    Holy Hell. I think I got it. Paladin, that directory you gave me, I tried it again and overwrote the files, now it seems to have taken.. I'm going to try it out, if it doesn't work, I'll let you know, but as it stands, you're a God send.
