Mouse Weirdness....

Sometimes during play (not only NS) the horizontal mouse movement seems to freeze for about 2 seconds (usually when I'm being rushed by a skulk... meh) then returns to normal. I can still look up and down and my mouse buttuns still work during the freeze.

try and find drivers for it (you can probably just do this by running windows update, something you should be doing anyway!)

If it happens most often when your in a hurry or on the move I would have a guess that all is not right with the mouse cable.

I have had a mouse that sometimes froze the game and the sound stuttered for a second or 2(PS/2 mouse), this almost never happened in windows and quite often in games. This confused me and I spent quite a lot of time fiddling with audio/graphics card drivers, reseating the cards and checking temps and stuff before I realized it must be the mouse. See when playing games you move it about all over the place, especially if you play with a low sensitivity on a big surface like I like to do. If the tiny cables inside have been bent back and forth for long enough or the cable stretched on occasion, then you might be experiencing a glitch in one of the cables when you move the mouse around quickly, and in you case this might be the signal wire for horisontal movement, in mine I think it was the ground or power cable or something causing odd instabillities.

My second guess would be that the PS/2 "socket" on the back of the computer or the connector on the mouse don't fit tight, causing glitches(especially if you shake the cable around a lot).
