Radeon-up!
<div class="IPBDescription">Need some advice, comrades...</div> I'm making a long-awaited transition from a Geforce 4 Ti to a Radeon 9600 Pro, and, never having owned an ATI card before, I need to know:
A) The best drivers currently available for the card
and B) Any other tweaks or recommendations
Thanks in advance, champs!

Also, make sure that you uninstall your nVidia drivers and run <a href='http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/' target='_blank'>Driver Cleaner</a> before installing your new Radeon and the drivers, otherwise you'll get a whole bunch of conflicts.
Apparently the 3.9's had "over-heating" problems.
As for the 4.x series, I hear that they are a huge improvement
on Direct3D/DirectX games but OpenGL games tend to suffer
an fps drop. (Alot of people play Half-Life and it's mod's in OpenGL
so try to plan ahead if you do use that series.)
It's just a case of trial and error for some people but unlike
the nVIDIA drivers, the ATI drivers actually do a good job
of uninstalling themselves when you prompt them to.

ATi's drivers still leave a little bit of junk behind, nothing like what nVidia's drivers do, though.
I've been very happy with my Radeon 9600 PRO. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Ah, not a problem. it'll be a fresh format before I stick the thing in, my computer is full of junk anyhow.
I think I'll give the Omega drivers a try <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
