Respawn System, Beacon, And You

<div class="IPBDescription">a thought about combat</div> this has been floating around in my head for a while now. i propose that we reinstate beacon into combat, although not like in regular ns. Right now with the 1/4 spawn rate it is difficult to get back in the game, and i know thats the point. i propose that getting beacon would allow you to do one of two things:
1. Spawn outside of this queue at a fixed rate, this would be not as fast as the fastest possible speed but faster tahn being in the last half of a dead team
2. To merely not count in the 1/4 of the team in the spawn system. this would allow the spawn rate to stay the same and thus add to the slippery slope early on, but allow it to get less easy to spawn camp later.

i am not sold on the idea but i thought of them so i thought i would share.

When you reply please state weather you:
a) hate my idea
b) like the idea of fixed spawn time
c) want it to allow a supernumery spawn with the 1/4 wave

    Hmm, I'd like it if beacon gave me my own fixed spawn time. Sounds like a great idea! Of course it could be problematic for aliens...

    You could make beacon a skill you get, like scan or mt, so you would respawn at a fixed rate reguard less of how many are dead.

    Idea: Beacon upgrade turns you into sort of a walking observatory. You spend your point to buy it, and then the option changes into "Use Beacon". If you click on that (without spending any points), you flash and get a progress bar (just like the Observatory in NSClassic), and if you don't move by the end of the progress bar, it beacons and brings everybody back to Marine spawn.

    The interesting thing about this is that in order for it to work you almost have to be outside of marine spawn yourself...which makes it much harder for you to notice that there is a swarm of aliens in Marine spawn which needs to be beaconed away. I could very much see there being a dedicated Observatory marine who just stood around and beaconed for the whole game though, giving the Marines an insane spawn advantage over the Aliens...so maybe say you can only Beacon once per life, like Mines or Grenades.

    Today I played in a 6v6 combat game, with 1/4 spawning system and all. It lasted over one hour before an admin changed the map, with no real sign of one team having the upper hand. The basic issues with Combat that create long stalemates still exist, and until something is done about it I don't think we should be making games any more drawn out than they already are with something like this.
