<div class="IPBDescription">Last stand</div>The Lerk loosed a stream of spikes at the four. All the spikes were deflected with a loud chirp as they struck the power armor.
Humbaba fired his shotgun in the air, not as a weapon, but an extension of his body. The shot landed across the lerk’s neck. It plummeted to the ground as it groped at it’s throat, gasping for air.
Freemantle and Tetsua wasted no time. Both loosed their grenade launchers on the remaining two sisters, crippling one and blowing the other apart.
A level two stepped out from the shadows.
“Die you #######!” Private Sersam screamed, loosing his LMG into the overweight xenoform.
The builder’s mass quivered as the bullets perforated his form. The builder tried as he might to get closer to the marine fire team, but he got no closer than his flying friend, as the bullets slammed into major arteries. The beast collapsed into a heap near his fallen comrade, spewing his luminescent green blood all over.
“Fade!” Tetsua screamed, pointing at a chamber in the distance.
From behind the sickly hive structure the slender shape of a Fade could be seen. It’s black chitin armor gleaming in the shadows. It made eye-contact with the group, hesitating briefly. Sersam and Tetsua let loose into the beast, but their bullets always seemed to miss. A faint orange cloud jumped into view. Anything they shot towards the alien scourge seemed to bend around him. The looked around for the source of the cloud.
Too late.
Freemantle looked up to meet the talons of the once-fallen level three. His body still possessed a faint green glow from his fallen comrades blood. His healing blood.
The Lerk’s talons penetrated through the power armor and clutched his face, lifting him off the ground. Freemantle screamed as the flier carried him off. Tetsua tried to shoot the bird from the sky, but it left another cloud of Umbra in its wake to thwart any plans of counter-attack.
In the distance, the Lerk threw Freemantle to the ground… snapping his neck, but not killing him. The beast slowly descended on the screaming, picking the flesh from his bones…
“That sick ####!” Tetsua screamed, reloading his Grenade Launcher. Across the room, the Fade billowed out a contest. Raising his scythe-like arm, he began to follow through with his swing.
Hida got a sick feeling in his stomach as the level 4 began to distort space-time. The Fade appeared behind Hida, following through with his lethal swing. Bisected, Private Hida stood in place for a moment.
The level 4 coiled the thick muscles in his legs and sprung into a backward flip, kicking Hida’s upper torso off. Sersam looked up in awe at the Fade spiraling over his head. The Fade landed behind him, bringing each arm down on Sersam’s shoulders, tearing him down his ribcage.
Sersam gasped for a moment as he watched his own blood splatter forth from his wounds. Humbaba screamed and brought his shotgun up to the Fade’s stomach and pulled the trigger. The shell shot collided with his chitin armor. The Fade was injured, but barely.
Humbaba pulled back the stock of his weapon… and found the level 4’s gastric launcher in his face. Humbaba opened his mouth to scream, but acid flooded it, muffling his words. Humbaba fell to the floor, screaming as the surface of his skin burned away…
