The Patch

Issue so simple yet so frustrating
I feel pretty silly for even having to post this, but I simply can't get NS to upgrade.

After downloading the patch to my computer I installed it to the recommended directory; it completed installation to that address but my .dll, etc. were still beta 2.

I attempted to install the patch once more, this time following the helpful and simple directions here. No dice.

I've heard some people say the installer was somehow flawed and the multiple attempts may be necessary, so I've retried a few times, but still the upgrade hasn't been successful, and now there are no beta 2 servers left.

So it's not a performance issue, and doesn't seem to be a system problem from what I can tell. Frankly, I'm just mystified. And I feel pretty dumb.

Anything you can do to point me in the right direction would be great.

Thanks.

P.S.

My Machine, though I doubt this is important:

Dell Dimension 8250
Pentium 4 CPU 2.66 GHz
2.65 GHz
512 MB of RAM
She runs windows XP, is 2 years old, and has never had any issues.

How To Know If You have Installed Beta 3:

Do a search on your harddrive for xfire_installer.exe

Where ever you find that is where you have installed beta 3 to, if you don't find it anywhere then I suggest redownloading the beta 3 patch

I did re-download and reinstall, which was the last thing I was going to try.

It's fine now, though I still have no idea why the exact same patch wouldn't have worked the first time under the exact same conditions (presumably, the conditions where somehow different). That never should've been a problem.

So it's taken care of now, at least.
