Going From Cloaked To Uncloaked

Does it happen to easily?
Been noticing this a lot lately, and quite frankly, its **** me off.

(Yea, I did a search, didnt find anything relevant to this.)

First of all, im still not sure whether this effect is intentional or not, but here goes..

So, you are a lonely level 2 skulk creeping around on co_faceoff, and, if you are like me, cloaking is your first upgrade You are sneaking very sneakily along one of any nameless corridors, watching a pack of marines approach, and waiting for the perfect time to strike. You move to the side to get into position, and barely brush the wall, and you UNCLOAK??

WTH?

A major issue I also have with cloaking is the speed which determines when to cancel cloaking because it believes you are running. (Im sure that theres some sort of variable timer for this) Ever been perched on a ceiling or corner of a room, and when you every so slightly move forward to plop off the wall onto a marines head.. your cloaking is cancelled, and you are promptly picked off by a trigger happy shotgunner? Yeah. It sucks.

This wall/corner bumping causing decloaking needs to be fixed.. or if someone can tell me a good reason why it was purposely implemented I will be satisfied. Thanks for reading

To cloak all the time..Hold down your walk button...The only time you should uncloak is if you move faster than walk..jump..fall...run into a marine...and attack...i havnt noticed any other bugs that would cause you to uncloak...since beta1...in beta1 you would uncloak when you went over small bumps and down stairs..but this was fixed

When you brush up against a wall while moving forward, you start to 'wallstrafe'. You move at a faster pace while wallstrafing than just walking forward, so it probably boosts you over the cloaking limit.

    ^^ 100% not scientific at all ^^

strafing speed is faster than walk forward speed

so if you strafe... you decloak.... simple as that

as for other situations.... yeah... if you go over walk speed you decloak yet again

Don't strafe, avoid walls(unless going up them) and drops. Problem solved. Cloaking isn't an effortless thing.

I must say cloak works the same as it always did, ive never had any problem with walls or strafe (Although when you strafe while cloaking and walking you still make a sound... means you have to turn not strafe quite anoyying).

Cloak in combat however is made useless by that pesky marine that buys scan...very anoyying.

And here was me thinking that this was going to be a thread about how endlessly long it seems to take to cloak now compared to 2.0

To summarise what others have said. Just be more careful, just because you're holding walk doesn't mean you can't go too fast.

    Guys, this fellow's right.

I completely agree, I notice it too, and quite frankly it pisses me off. This was not a problem in 2.0, but now it's nearly impossible to be an effectived cloacked skulk. I now never either bother because I know I'm going to uncloack at a bad time, and won't be able to recloack before I'm dead.

The dev team and most of the community done'st think it's important to address this as of yet, so it's going to get ignored. (as seen in previous threads on the topic) And no, it wasn't always like this.

only press your forward key while clocked, if you strafe using left and right then your going to speen up

Even if you are careful to never touch walls nor strafe keys while walking, you will still have a major problem moving up or down stairs or ramps, as well as when trying to manuver on a wall.

I've noticed that in Beta 3 when your walking as a skulk and is going up a wall it take like 5 seconds before he goes up. Like your holding crouch button too.
This is a real pais when your a cloaked skulk and need to go to the celing because marines are coming.

    It's a bug.

Removing the ability to speed up whilst walking and strafing would help a lot.

no silly nub, heres how cloak works: u stay cloaked no matter what as long as u

    WALK
    dont jump
    dont attack
    dont get scanned
    dont strafe
    get attacked somehow

other than that, as long as u keep holding walk, and u DONT strafe, JUMP, or ATTACK u shouldnt uncloak.

yeah ive strafed so many times and went uncloaked only to be killed countless times, its probably what ur doing wrong

celerity increases the "tolerence" of cloaking, so with it, you can:

    strafe
    go down stairs

You can uncloak by turning too fast. It's an almost worthless upgrade because it's so unreliable and a single marine per group counters it 100%.
