<div class="IPBDescription">Textured, spotlights etc...</div>Well... I asked you "high-quality-bad-assez-of-mappers" <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo--> earlier about a thing, the textured lighting..
What I got for response from you all was "go look at a tutorial".. well.. since I already did that a few times and decided that one more couldnt hurt.. and so I looked.. I found one(not important what tut.) and followed instructions... what I did, in detail is this:
*open folder where "lights.rad" lies.
*open up the "lights.rad" file by right-clicking and then open it in wordpad(I used this).
* be sure to check the space between the light-textures name and digits, so that it is the same everywhere.
*put in the name "subway_lights 255 255 255 200"(ex) below the excisting "+~white 255 255 255 1000"
now I saved (for security reasons and from your advices, I saved copies of this rad file in zhlt as well as hl AND nstr folders) it and went for compile with full vis in a single room with 5 different lights to see which one I prefered.
but this is where it all went wrong.. the "+~white" that comes standard in hl, did not make a single glow, its all dark right now... as well as my precios and wonderfull subway lights... everything I put in this rad file does NOT glow.. nothing.. It is as if wc knows about the rad, but not using it.. or doesnt even know about it..
so I would like to know how the gajeezum u guys did this, cuz its my 5th try to get this to work..
I may not be a n00b to building, but sure as heck is a n00b when it comes to textured lighting
nr2: how do I put a pic up here, I try and it just loads for 20 mins then says its not possible.. even with a smaaaall small pic.. size = ? format = ? etc..

Make sure the .rad file is in your WorldCraft directory and put this text into the command line for HLRAD:
-lights lights.rad (It will work with any name, just change it as appropriate)
Hope this helps!
I know this usually gets people in a twist, but I have to recommend against using WC to do your compiling. You would be much better off using one of the separate compiler shells available. Although there are newer compilers out there, I still prefer Q2BeaVeR.
Will try those tips.. bout putting it in hlrad.. is that in the ZHLT folder in "hlrad"?
Not only that, but it's easier to set up the batch-compiler than it is to set up world-craft, and the website (to which I provided a link above) has a tutorial for setting it up for those of us who don't really care too much about complicated settings.
I highly recommend it <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

In case you haven't read it, here is a tutorial from Counter-Map about the lights. rad file. <a href="http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Tutorials/tutorial.php?id=48" target="_blank">Tutorial</a>
Anyway, there we go. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
- If you have a website somewhere other than tripod, geocities, etc. you can use the "Image" button above the text field and type in the url of the image you want to post. Most free website hosts like tripod won't allow for image sharing or whatever you call it.
- Other than that you can simply attach the image to your post. It has to be under 71680 bytes in filesize and probably in jpeg or gif format.
<b>Freestlyer,</b> I used to use the HLCC too, but recently discovered that it was not functioning properly with some of the features in the newest ZHLTs, as well as some of the older ones which have since been renamed. I now have to use the ZHLT GUI from eddi, which to be quite honest, I can't stand. I was using HLCC version 1.32, and was wondering if you have a more up to date version, and where it can be downloaded. Thanks <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
I once wrote a bash shell script for the purpose, but the version of Cygwin I used wasn't so great on paths with spaces in. I'll have to try again some time. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Besides the totally annoying errors, bugs, hassles, and a bit too friendly user interface, eddi's should suit you fine I would think. HLCC is out of date (You can't even use -full on VIS.. at least in 1.32). I have no experience using the others mentioned here... they're probably good to. Also make sure you are using Zoner's Half-Life Compilation Tools rather than the valve ones.
Here are the links you'll need:
<a href="http://www.planethalflife.com/eddi/" target="_blank">Eddi's GUI</a>
<a href="http://www.valve-erc.com/resources/?page=zhlt" target="_blank">Zoner's Compiling Tools</a>
If you are unfamiliar with the process, you can probably find a tutorial somwhere on setting up the compiling tools to replace the standard valve ones. Try the site for the gui or www.valve-erc.com .
