Hmmm... AFAIK, AHL came after CS, but some of the early CS team were in fact members of the AQ2 team, and CS took a lot of it's play dynamic from other mods around at the time during it's development (AQ2 + AHL)
I think Delta itself was horribly unbalanced.. In favour of both races, when you consider the strategic possibilities.
The map was essentially an equilateral triangle (You know, one of those things with equal sides and stuff.), with the hives at the points.. and Marine base smack dab in the center.
Either marines expanded to the right, capped four (!) nodes, and obliterated aliens, or the exact opposite happened. There was also siege points from a very.. very.. very.. VERY small vent (!?), among other small imbalances that I BELIEVE caused the map to be pulled from release at the last minute.
The War room was pretty kickin'.. had beeps and a laser and neat bits abound. Was often fought over due to the RT and proximity to hive AND MS.
And the "Flood the readyroom" with the skulk only switch was a nice bit of fun. Even had "water" coming out of the pits that made you join a random team.

Thanks for the info, Delphi. Too bad that a serious discussion got hijacked so easily that they are not even discussing they actual post.
I don't mind when things get a little out of hand, but this...
If it wasn't for the actual poster wanting actual information about a map(not CS or Quake or HL2 or... why not Doom 2 or even Wolfenstien! How about the Drunken Missles in Rise of the Triad, anybody remember that one? OH! What about the way things can be destroyed in Red Faction, or the occasional Tie Fighter in Dark Forces. They should be in the game, too! ...Wait what game is this... oh yeah!), where was I... This post would be more suited to the Off-Topic Forum.
AQ2 players who didn't like AHL always mention strafe jumping. I hate strafe jumping. Luckily for me, it wasn't very common yet on scandinavian servers back when I played AQ2. AHL's first public beta did come out a couple of months after CS's, but they both started development about the same time AFAIK. There were CS developers in AQ2 team, Gooseman and Cail IIRC. There was some cooperation between the mods too early on. CS gameplay indeed has some similarities with AQ2's teamplay with rounds mode, this was especially true in early versions.
damn...that ready room filling with water should be in every map. No more bums sitting in the ready room waiting for the team they want to join to become available.

I didn't like delta that much. It wasn't played much in testing, most ppl kinda left the servers and didnt wana play. No offense to the guy who made it, I know what its like to make a map, but the way it played just didn't work.
