<div class="IPBDescription">Discussion Of Article</div> just read an interesting article, and in the interests of;
a) kicking off an interesting discussion
b) getting more people to read it!
thought I would make it the starting point for a topic about lots of things.
Firstly, I would like people to try not to get too 'worked up' about individual points made in this article, although to ask for the points to be considered indisputable or ignored is not my intention.
<a href='http://www.onlinejournal.com/Commentary/011004Hasty/011004hasty.html' target='_blank'>This is the article, please read fully before jumping in</a>
I know its a 'long read', but its worth it (imho).
Its concerned me for a while how the term 'conspiracy theory' is used to invalidate/ sideline lines of questioning. The corporate media, the ruling elite (read richest 1%), the 'media's' silence of links between corporations and government, the 2000 elections, all these things undedrmine democracy as a whole.
I dont even know what I want this topic to be about, it seems too wide ranging and all encompassing to sum up, somthings not right with the way things are going.
Lets start with the point that most of us are too decent to acknoweldge these things, it seems to me a great answer for why we are so ignorant as to what is 'really happening' to us and the world.
"ignorance is bliss"
how free are we really when we hide things like this from ourselves?!
when a population decides ignorance is the easiest option, what happens to democracy?

I still find it shocking that so many americans still refuse to aknowledge the CIA's horrible deeds.
It isn't done with latino american countries , and it's a miracle Hugo Chavez was brought back to power in Venezuela.
People prefer trusting mainstream media , rather than having to take the time to question their version and find out what actually happens. Lazyness and apathy , it's what kills democracy.
Isn't this sort of like playing six degrees of George Bush? I don't know, it's hard to do any real research on this since any info you get is likely to be extremely biased.
Very interesting read though.

Why weren't they in the "Situation Room?" Don't any of them ever watch "West Wing?"<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
either this is a joke or the guy is just silly.
2) His constant referance to himself as Paranoid.
Paranoia is a mental state where you are NOT thinking properly (Paranoia is irational fears, much the same as a phobia)
as the good dr pointed out, it is nearly imposible to find any true facts on ANY thing simply b/c every one has an agenda, and thus every source is biased.
For now I chose to believe that there is not some deep dark plot going on. I believe what reliable new sources say (NY Times, BBC, etc)taking it with a grain of salt of course.
If this guy backed up all of his 'facts' with facts I think I would be willing to try and read it, but untill then things like this just sound to much like silly ravings to me.
Not to derail this topic but these are some of the most biased news sources around. Both are considerably left wing, as are most media news sources save Fox. It's where terrorists beome 'insurgents' and rioters become protestors. That better be a damn big grain of salt!
As for the article I agree, it is just paranoia. He didn't even reference any of his points to a credible resource. Just by looking at the adverts on the page it's quite clear which side he falls on.
