Rc8 changelog alien binding exploits...

<div class="IPBDescription">Please explain...</div>I was just wondering what the RC8 changelog entry below is referring to:

O Addressed exploits where alien abilities could be bound to keys (player is immediately killed).  Go ahead and try abusing this and let me know if you can still exploit the system.  In fact, exploit NS as much as possible and let me know about anything you can do.  It should be fairly cheat proof as far as the NS rules go.

It would seem to be saying that you cannot bind alien abilities to keys, and yet Gutterclutch asked that very same question:

"Can no ability keys be bound to the keyboard? It is illegal to use anything but that rightclick menu thing to do anything?"

And MonsieurEvil replied with:

"YOu can bind all the upgrades, evolutions, abilties, weapons, vox, etc. to the keyboard, either via using the HL config menu, or the console commands."

So again I ask you, what is that entry referring to? Thanks in advance.

PS The above quotations, except for the changelog entry itself, are from the stickied RC8 changelog topic, page 12 I think.

I assume this reffers to binding not only a single cammond, but a list of binds into an alias, so that the level 4, for example, could blink and then slash right away, without selectng defferent weapons.

Quite cheap, and exploits the people who don't know the H scripting commands.

It was players binding keys to abilties that were not yet available in their game - a way to get all abilities even with no hives, or even as a Marine!

That's why it was an exploit.

legionaired, a blink already ends in an automatic slash (stc etc)

Actually, it does not. Some tiresome person started that as a rumor. You blink, then switch to slash. I suppose you could make an alias to do it if you wanted to be all l337.

So this has been fixed, and we can now bind abilities for our own ease of use, with no fear that we will be able to use abilities we shouldn't have access to now, right?

Incidentally, thanks for clearings things up Monse and Greedo. Much appreciated...
