Gradual Sound Problems And Slowed Response

I use Gamespy.
When I play NS, things will start out fine. I'll play for about twenty minutes, and the sound will begin to turn to static. It also starts coming out in doubles. I'll bite once, hear one sound, but then the sound is played again and the two become static. Once this starts, I start having a slowed response with sound. I will fire, see that I've fired, and then half a second later hear the sound.
If I play long enough, sometimes the sound will be fixed, usually if the map changes. Every once in a while, though, such as today, instead of being fixed, the whole game slows. The fps is poor, but not very bad, the problem is that when I moved, the movement is slow and smoothed out. When I stop pressing the button to move forward, I slide a little.
