Second to Teamplay Dynamics, I think the Resource Model (RESMOD) is of incredible importance.  I realize there is tremendous pressure (From the public as well as from the inside I'm sure) to Release but it seems to me that the changes made to the RESMOD in RC8 is pretty major (Is it?).  I'm certain the RESMOD will be tweaked further when NS is released but I support your decision to take as much time as you need to hammer out any aspect of the RESMOD.

As a Gameplay/Teamplay Freak I would also appreciate an update on the changes to the RESMOD particularly how it impacts Gameplay/Teamplay.  How does it feel now in RC8?  In ideal conditions, how does the NS Team want the RESMOD to work?  Has there been any consideration for Clan Matches or Competitions when it comes to the RESMOD?

I apologize if this topic has been covered, if it has, please provide a link to whichever thread went over this and I'll scour for the posts myself.

The RESMOD is also of interest to me because I have begun preliminary layout work on a map idea I have been brewing.  However, my plan is not even going to start it until NS is actually out.  The reason being that I intend on making a map with as Teamplay potential as possible and without knowing/experiencing the Flow, Teamplay Dynamics, and RESMOD of NS it would be simply an exercise in interior design for me to actually start on the map.  I have done much Style Testing though.

Anyways I digress.  Thanks for dropping by, whatever information will be much appreciated.

This is,

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Over and Out.

    I'd have to respond to this incredibly verbose post with...

    Don' worry about it.  Flayra more than anyone knows the first release of NS has to be next to flawless, and we playtesters sure as hell aren't going to let him slip a flawed product past *us*.  Ask him how often we suggest tweaks and changes - he'll probably throw a shoe at you.

    LOL, the acronym fanatic returns!  Wondered where you'd run off to.

    COMODE!  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    The RESMOD is personally the most interesting aspect of NS.  Balancing 2 seperate races/upgrades/weapons along with how/when you can use them sounds like the hardest (or at least longest) part.  So I agree with Whiskey, this is one thing that deserves to hold off the release of NS.

    There is obviously no way Flay would release the mod without one of its fundamental processes working. I know you guys think you're being helpful when you say things like this in a post, but it mostly comes across as vaguely patronizing. Just don't worry about it.

    /me points to playtesters as well, who mention the same bug 50 times in a row, as if they are the only one who knows about it...

    Welcome back Whiskey, we missed you and your acronyms.

    The resource model (along with the alien upgrade system and the commander mode) has been in-flux for as long as I can remember.  It's been ripped down, rebuilt, created, destroyed, reworked, reversed, double-reversed and everything in between so many times that I sometimes I can't remember if I tried a certain approach or if something worked or didn't.  The resource model that's in now is very close to what we're going to ship with, and with one or two last small tweaks, is something I'm very happy with.

    The way which resources flow. How much things cost, give you, trickle down... everything involving resources. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
