Does anyone know how to use the fade with blink and swipe combo. I watch people do it and its like they just run into me with blink and they kill me but everytime i try to do that it dosent work i blink then i switch to swipe right away and i have to swipe many times. It only worked once for me it was like a blink then i hit swipe then i got him when the claws didnt even come out yet. Can anyone explain how to do this?

I just upgrade Focus and Adrenline, with 3 chambers of each I do almost the same thing, never swiped before claws came out before. But I don't really need it because Focus take care of them pretty fast. (note:I only use this on rambo's or very small groups of vanilla marine-otherwise you die pretty fast, unless you got backup)

Just set 'q' as 'last weapon' (console command lastinv I think).

Then select swipe, and then select blink, then you can quick switch between the two, so you would only need to perfect blinking right up to him, swiping, then blinking away. Fades are very hard to master, but once mastered with this technique, can be deadly, a fade blinks in, gets a single shot in, retreats to heal, repeats until marine is dead.

First you must turn on your fastswitch:
    hud_fastswitch "1"
    in your config

I know a lot of people who switch there weapons with Mousewheel.
    I don't know HOW do they do this <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

But with keyboard and the "WSAD-Control" is switching your wepons easy =)
    You only must type 1, 2,3 ....

The key is your controls set up. Get weapon fast switch turned on. There is an option for it in "Options" then "Advanced". What this means is that when you select a weapon it will automaticaly be ready for use instead of having to fire first.

I'm stuck in my ways with controls, so I still use the arrow keys for movement, and all the keys surrounding are bound to various things.

"I know a lot of people who switch there weapons with Mousewheel."

I agree, they must be mad, though for instance,

    MouseWheelUp bound to Slot 1
    MouseWheelDown bound to Slot 2

for example can work quite well, though it's still really fiddly.

    I have:

    CTRL bound to Slot1
    Shift bound to Slot2
    DEL bound to Slot3
    PGDN bound to Slot4

This means I don't have to use last weapon used, I can just instantly switch to whatever I need at the touch of a key. For example as a fade I'll have blink (slot2) selected normaly, then as I blink to an enemy I simply tap CTRL and I can now swipe, then tap shift and I can blink away. Even tap DEL and get a metabolize in whilst I'm blinking away.

I think my general point is, if you are having trouble blinking and swiping, work out the two keys you can press easily and quickly without hindering youself, and set one to Slot1 and the other to Slot2 and practice rapidly switching. I don't recommend you go down the path of scripting because it requires less skill and tbh is cheating in my book, but thats another argument.

I'm not sure this answers the original question but it may be of help to someone somewhere =)

    Agreed.

I play with the arrow keys as well. I just have the numpad as my weapons with fastswitch on.

I really dont know why theres such a big focus on that magical lastinv key. Just hit the damn number for god sakes ^_^

Anyway, ive never had any problem with blink-swiping or leap-biting using the numpad.

I'd just like to say how much my game has improved since I've moved all my hotkeys for weapons. Now I've got mouse 2 for weapon 2, Q for weapon 1, the thumb button on the mouse for slot 3 and 'F' for Weapon 4.
It works great. Now I can blink then meta in mid air, switch to swipe and then back to meta and then blink away. Works great and helped my k:d ratio in combat go from about 1:1 to 2:1 or almost 3:1.

I just quickly hit Q (for previous weapon)

forget all your lame easy binding keys <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> good ol previous weapon

I use it alot with leap, its so funny

    cloaking, then seeing your enemy

    then leepign from no where and byting + killing him <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Chris, I had a lot of luck with lastinv as well, though I found it difficult to do things like throw an umbra on an enemy, primal scream then bite a lot as lerk, or to rapidly switch from blink to meta to swipe and so on as a fade. Also I would run into problems with the lastinv not taking effect, so I'd wind up leaping into a marine instead of biting them, or quickly turn around and bite nothing before the active weapon would switch to leap.

It's a small difference, but I noticed it.

I use the default hl controls (wasd and 1-5 for slots 1-5), and it works just fine. You do need hud_fastswitch 1. It makes it so you don't have to scroll and click to select your weapon if you didn't know.

It's all in the fast finger motion, and mastering the timing so you can get everything out at the right moment. As a bonus, once you get down the blink-swipe, you're pretty much set on the leap-bite.

Dah use lastinv. Its nifty for ANYTHING in NS, from bite-leap and lmg-pistol to stomp-devour ... If you are gonna use Metabolize though, i suggest the plain 1-2-3 on your keyboard with HUD_fastswitch 1

using 'previous weapon' key can sometimes backfire.

For example you are skulk, you see a marine far away so you parasite him. Then you press 3, leap over to him, and press the 'previous weapon' key only to find you're parasiting him at point blank range <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Easier just to use 1,2,3 and 4
