Shotguns=peashooters?

<div class="IPBDescription">Right Up Thur</div> Shotguns are really starting to **** me off. Seems like someone who knows what they are doing can exploit that skulk hitbox perfectly and avoid taking dead on hit damage. The other thing i hate is that you can put like 4 shots into a being and have it charge you like it isn't affected. it sure would be nice if they got knocked back by a dead on close up shot kinda like what skulks do to you when they bite you. But seriously now.. Ehhmm.. a pushback effect for the shotgun would actually be pretty cool.. I would definately imagine getting hit with 00 Buckshot would throw you back.

That's actually one of the best ideas I've seen for a while. Make those blimmin' Fades suffer knockback for being shot like the skulks have to when they bite the 'rines.
You'd need to make knockback species dependant though, because otherwise Onos would be just fodder with their HEEEUGE hitbox.
Right now I think the shotgun is fine. Yes we've all encountered the sparks bugs to some varying degree, you just got to keep on truckin.
I can tell you that the fade is still paper on lvl 1 shotties. Its not so much because of the lack of health or anything, but the lack of a reasonable swipe range. Swipe has ludicrous problems dealing with having to be almost dead center when attacking a 'rine in order to actually register a hit. Some people that have godlike aim can weild a fade like a friggin steam engine (the train type, not the game). However those of us with somewhat less than godlike aim would still like to feel even a little effective against some marine that unrealistically strafes like a ****. The way I visualize thins is that a fade should be about as effective as an HA with a SG(high) or HMG(mid). Onos = HA w/ HMG(high); Lerk = LA w/ HMG(low)/SG(mid); Skulk = LA w/ LMG/SG(low).
In reality there's no real way to match the different types up. In Combat it takes all the extra available upgrades to make aliens seem effective. Classic still has 'rines winning on most maps most of the time (some maps are just plain bad balance wise... ayumi anyone?)
Anyways... I kind of got off topic... generally I think the SG is fine as is with the exception that the sparks thing has to be dealt with and possibly slightly less damage actually to make it more on par with fades given their accuracy issues.
