<div class="IPBDescription">Not sure where to post this.</div> Ok, I'm having a very irritating issue with my voice com.
I used to use an nForce2 integrated audio. But it was a little buggy with newer games. So I bought an Audigy LS.
With my nForce APU I was able to run Ventrilio and Half Life at the same time, and use both channels reliably for voice comm.
Now with the Audigy if I have both running at the same time, either my ventrillio output becomes only static, or my half life output becomes only static.
This isnt very consistent either. Sometimes both WILL work, and sometimes both will bug out.
It sucks to be comming when all of a sudden your teammates ears start to bleed because you told them to get to the hive. Or that we'll lose the phase if nobody shows up there.
Anybody know what my issue might be? I'm asking for help here because this only happens with HL/NS... and I can't seem to isolate any cause of the problem.

*update* But then again, I remember calling back about a different issue and asked a different tech about the mic problem and each tech I talked to gave me a different answer about it... So I really don't know for sure. Your best bet is to set up your onboard for mic and then use the audigy for listening, thats what I wound up doing (and still am) !
its a overheating prob
Anyway, this seems to be better fit for O-T.

But as were on the subject of microphones.. My microphone only works when wire is in a certain place.. Broken wire? And also, when it works its like constant voice_loopback 1 except its very loud and you can barely hear what i say.. Just a weird noise. Any ideas?
The wire is shorted in your mic. Buy a new mic.
For the noise problem:
1. Ensure your mic is muted, but the record level is high (volume controls).
2. Turn the boost on (it's in the mic's advanced volume controls)
3. Use headphones - if you're using speakers, the mic picks up the sound from the speakers, and loops.
4. Use the microphone test in Half Life.
5. Buy a new mic.
EDIT: BTW I cannot try updating my drivers. I checked creative's website and it says there are no driver updates for my audigy that are available for download.
(language warning for above linky)
hehe, I've been happy with onboard sound, haven't had the desire to upgrade to creative, only hear bad things about them lately <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> I did like my Sound Blaster 16 back in the day though <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I've hated Creative for years, but I buy their products because they're the only ones I can find at the mall. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> And I like to pay for things in cash, rather than buy everything online.
My nForce2 audio was ok, but It wasn't perfect. It would bug out, or when too many sounds were playing it would drop things. (Like the engine noise of the warthog in halo)
Little things like that were a little too annoying to put up with consistently. So i decided to buy a real add-in dedicated sound card... y'know one WITH a hardware buffer.
Anywho. I hooked up all my inputs to my nForce and all my outputs are on the Audigy. So I get dual mic's, and high quality outputs. It's a good compromise for now.
Hopefully creative will wise up and release some updated drivers... Cos the audigy could be a good product, if they'd fix some of their annoying drivers bugs.
Also. Whoever mentioned that tech support said that it could only handle one input... you were being given the run around. If that was true, directsound wouldn't be able to initialize the second input channel to begin with.
