Okay I'm hoping I'm missing delightfully stupid but I can't not understand why it cannot find the .wads. I have everything installed on my D:\. I have a copy right on D:\ns customs where I have the stuff saved. I've read the how to for setting up with Steam to a T. Is there some issue with only being able to compile and play with them installed in the default directories or something?

Please help, if I make another copy of my wads I swear I'm gonna scream. I'm assuming I'm missing something completely stupid and hope you guys can point out my lack of understanding quickly.

I've used WC for Quake and relased all those XL1DM and XLDM maps for Quake and QuakeII but have never ran into an issue like this. When I had it set up for standard HL without steam I was able to compile and play properly. Anyways if you get a moment see what you can come up with.

I've been working on a test map for NS/CO but you can only do so much without seeing it in game. Well thanks for the help.

You'll need to move both your map and all wads that you're using out of your steam directory for now -- the current tools don't handle directories that contain periods correctly on Windows systems. It's a known issue that I've fixed for the next release of ZHLT.

In addition, the wads need to be on the same drive letter as the working directory when the tools are run because Hammer drops the drive letter when it exports wad paths to the .map file. You can edit the map file in a text editor and put the drive letters back into the file paths if you want to keep the wads on a separate drive.

best to keep all your eggs in one basket..

besides, best to compile and THEN copy the map...

if you can move your copy statement to the end of the compile, and change the paramaters to compile in the current folder ... the \ns customs folder, you should be straight.

i dont use the in-hammer-batch compile thingy... i write a batch file for mine, so i dont know if its an option.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Thanks for the tips, I'll try them when I get home from work. I apologize for placing in the wrong thread to begin with. I totally forgot to be honest about the help thread. :/ Another example of my blazing stupidity at times.

    Later
