Sounds like a big paranoid 'what-if' and 'such and such may occur' rubbish we hear every year from soothsayers. But given the hypothetical situation where food became a scarce resource: Yes it would breed anarchy. Governments would collapse and people would literally kill to survive. Basic instincts have a tendency to over ride rationale when your life is on the line.

Two points to make, both from another forum I visit ( also, neither is something I posted, but I do subscribe to these opinions ).

There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production– with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does this sound familiar? How about this?

    quote:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects... But the scientists see few signs that government leaders anywhere are even prepared to take the simple measures of stockpiling food or of introducing the variables of climatic uncertainty into economic projections of future food supplies. The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now if the above were written today, most of us would assume they were talking about global warming. But this was written thirty years ago and they weren't talking about global warming. They were talking about global cooling. The quotes from above were taken from an article printed in Newsweek in 1975. You can the article in its entirety <a href='http://www.globalclimate.org/Newsweek.htm' target='_blank'>here</a>

The point is, people have been saying the sky is falling for years and years and it never has. Stop worrying.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

It's not that big a deal, the Pentagon plans for everything, and this report as I read it is basically more a plan for different scenarios if there is a catastrophic climate change. From what I have read, the Pentagon has plans for everything, including attacking Canada, starting a nuclear war, etc.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<i>The purpose of this report is to imagine the unthinkable - to push the boundaries of current research on climate change so we may better understand the potential implications on United States national security.

We have interviewed leading climate change scientists, conducted additional research, and reviewed several interations of the scenario with these experts.  The scientists support this project, but caution that the scenario depicted is extreme in two fundamental ways.  First, they suggest the occurrences we outline would most likely happen in a few regions, rather than on globally.  Second, they say the magnitude of the event may be considerably smaller.

We have created a climate change scenario that although not the most likely, is plausible, and would challenge United States national security in ways that should be considered immediately.</i><!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'd find a way to survive. Then again, why bother. My life at the moment pretty much revolves around computers and the INTARNETSUPARHIGHWAY. I'd be bored out of my head.

Also, i'd make a nice meal for a family of 5, with enough leftovers to have the same dinner tomorrow.

Basic fact is, if it's happening you can't stop it so don't worry. Face it when it gets here, and keep a gun and some stockpiled food handy to hold off against the ravaging hoardes of zombies. If there's one thing games have taught me, it's that if there is a disaster, there are zombies. Damn zombies.

No, you got it all wrong.
    1. There's pretty much natural disasters and everyones at each others resource stockpiles
    2. Someone is TOTALLY going to use his nuclear arsenal. Maybe just for the fun of it, I don't have more accurate information besides the fact that it's going to happen
    3. We got Fallout IRL, pretty cool, huh?
    4. Watch out for radiated mutant cockroaches
    5. Jesus comes and is quoted to say "Oh Christ, my dad is going to be SO mad at you"
    6. Apocalypse
    7. Zombies walk the earth

So you see, you don't actually need a shotgun for Zombies before the phase 7. So just get some radiation suits and some bug-spray for the cockroaches.
