<div class="IPBDescription">as seen on the www.nsarmslab.com forums</div> <span style='color:yellow'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>HOW TO BOOLEAN WITHOUT GLITCHYNESS!</span></span>
YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE BASICS OF MAX AND WHERE EACH THING IS I DO NOT EXPLAIN WHERE CERTAIN ITEMS ARE
first things first im writing this because bigbull asked me too and i found alot of people complaining about the boolean tool im not 100% sure this works in all cases but from what ive tried ive gotten it to work almost all the time i will be giving the basic concept which you can apply to pretty much anything
lets say you have a cube and you want to boolean a bunch of cylinders out of it first make the cube then make the cylinders that you are going to boolea out like so...
<img src='http://server6.uploadit.org/files/clericchrono3-1.JPG' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
then you convert one of the cylinders into a editable mesh then go to the modify tab and select attach list and attach everything that is going to be booleaned and deleted do not select the item that you are going to keep in the end it should be something like this with the redish as teh stuff thats going to disappear
<img src='http://server6.uploadit.org/files/clericchrono3-2.JPG' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
then select the cube and go to boolean and then click on one of the cylinders and they should all disapear with the cube full of holes left
there you have it but be carefull sometimes it will glitch if the objects are too complex but i hope you get the basic idea and dont use boolean too much it might get your polys realy high
if you are doing complex items i recommend getting a plugin called powerboolean but it costs money you can get a trial but you cant save after
CLASS DISMISSED!
sorry if you find grammer/spelling/punctuation mistakes dont be a grammer nazi
