Brightening Screenshots

Is there any way to brighten ur screenshots other then photoshop or the shop pro which i dont have. maybe a direct link for the proper gimp file cause there website is majorly fubar to me. all links give u access to a directiry with like 10 other directies that have 10 more in each of those so im lost.would like to post a screenie of my map tho.
