Dunno, I may be wrong but I think:
* Mapping = Mapping Forum
* Pimping = Pimping Forum (Mapping Sub-forum)
* Mapping Help = Mapping Help and Troubleshooting Forum (Mapping Sub-forum)
And what do I mean by "mapping"?
Sources of inspiration, cool techniques you found and want to share, ideas, etc. Basically anything that is not:
a) a release/teaser/progress thread
b) a request for help with a mapping problem.

how many sub-forums do we need till you guys stop complaining?
so lets point out:
- some poeple call themselves mappers
- some people ARE mappers
- the mappers want to share their techiques
- the mappers want to help other mappers
- the mappers want to see screenshots of other maps
- the mappers want to present their own maps
so what the problem?
I agree that some maps dont get the attention... thats why some finished maps got "lost".

I honestly cannot answer that one.
I CAN tell you, however that NO amount of sub-forums will stop me from <b>suggesting</b> things...

But i do agree that alot maps dont get the attention they should, that for one should be sorted out!!!

good idea, but not quite worth the effort.
Still, the "Finished Maps" thread (Sticky?) might save a lot of maps from oblivion...
Flayra and I talked a bit about the idea of having a map showcase on the ns webspace, but after tossing some ideas around we'd basically conceptually recreated <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/Main.php' target='_blank'>NS World</a>. It doesn't make sense to create any redundant resources when someone from the community has already supplied the necessary time and energy, so we dropped the idea.
I <i>can</i> see the possibility of sticky directory of links to final map threads / map entries on NS World; I don't want to end up with too many sticky threads though... 7 is already pushing it IMO. I may take down some of the ones that haven't seen traffic in a while and link them through the FAQ.
I see your point. Might I suggest that many of the stickies in place can be gouped under the heading "Mapping Resources"?
I realize that while that might make it a bit more "tidy" on the face of it, it might also make it more difficult for newcomers to find, eg. the latest compile tools.

I'll think about the rest... I've been doing some bug fixing in the forum software over the last few days, and if n-s.org gets a full IPB license I may start making bigger changes in how things are displayed.
