Questions about opengl

I got some questions, i have a 3dfx video card ( NVIDIA Riva TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro) When i try to run hl with opengl, it says that my videocard doesn´t support it. If i download a driver like nvidia ones, can i use opengl? Or its the card and i gotta buy a better one with opengl?

    The riva TNT2 isn't 3DFX.

    That card runs openGL fine, I had it for a long time, I used to get 15-25fps with it.

    Download the latest detonators and try again. Also try changing the res, and use the "default" not "minigl" drivers.

    Yeah, the TNT2 is not a 3dfx card, it's an nVidia card. If you're running Windows 98/Me, you can go to www.glsetup.com and download their driver utility. If not, then you can go to nvidia's website and download their most recent TNT/GeForce family drivers.

    I got the latest drivers, the ones monse posted on the other topic, and i can´t play with opengl =/

    I never can remember if this is the one, but do you have a pull down menu in the Video Modes screen that has an option for a Mini Driver thingy? If so, make sure -that- one is selected. Might work.

    I'll 3rd the fact that it should run in opengl, cos it does it right now on mine. Make sure your running the default drivers in HL like richard said. Also the drivers that monse mentioned in that thread are beta drivers, so may not make your life easy. go to <a href="http://www.nvidia.com" target="_blank">www.nvidia.com</a> and follow the tabs at the top to get the lastest drivers that definetly work. Then go here <a href="http://webdeploy.glsetup.com/webdeploy.121/glsetup.exe" target="_blank">opengl</a> and download the file, then run it, and it should detect the latest opengl drivers for the TNT2 and download them. Remember to uninstall the graphics card before installing the new nvidia drivers, to make sure the latest install is clean and no leftover drivers files are present.

    If this doesn't work, or kills your comp, blame me. or preferably someone else

    Actually you <i>don't</i> want the minigl, because miniGL is for 3DFX cards, not Nvidia cards.

    Ok, is it saying that it doesn't support it, or is it saying that you should go to the website blah blah and all that, and then minimizing HL and opening up a web browser when you change modes? 'cause that second one used to happen to me a lot, and all I'd just have to do is go back into HL and ignore that warning... (now, if it says 'Video mode not supported' when trying to start a new game, rather than when changing video modes, I've got no answers...)

    Are you -sure- you've got the latest drivers?

    I´ve downloaded the monolithic setup from glsetup, detected the card and installed, tryed, it sayed it doesnt support, so i dled the ones monse sayed, tryed...... Same thing.....
