OpenGL issue
First I want to start off by saying hi to everyone else viewing this, and thanks for putting your time into at least reading this issue. Now to the problem i'm having...

Alright everytime I attempt to start Natural Selection 3.0 lately i've been getting this error:

Now I think I got this error because, when I format my computer it reinstalls ME to my OS, because that's default. Then, I install XP, and once that is done I install the NVIDIA Driver Updates to run in opengl. But this time i kinda of install NS first and attempted to open it with OpenGL before I installed the drivers. Now it's only been doing it since then... All my other MOD's work fine, and I got that same error once with TFC after trying to open NS several times, but as soon as I get that error for NS HL opens then closes, but when I got it for TFC HL still opened, just in software mode, with 16 bits, and in like 600x800.

My computer states are:

Windows XP Pro
512KB RAMBUS
Nvidia GeForce 2 MX/MX 400

Any other information I will post, just please try to help me fix this, I love my NS :-(

    heeeeeeeeee

you update to xp from me? gahh

Honestly enugh that could cause a problem by itself ("updating" your OS tends to mess things up, especialy if ME is anywhere in there)

    My suggestions:
    1) Remove NS and Steam
    2) Remove your cidcard drivers
    3) Fully update said drivers
    4) Install Steam/NS
    5) If this don't work reformat your comp and use the XP disk to install from, not the ME one

    Quick one:
when you reformat all you have to do is stick the XP disk in the drive when you do the reformat, it will install XP and you will NEVER have ME On your system (me = the worst OS ever, it literaly eats hard drives)

Alright but when I format, it automatically installs ME. I use my backup disc's... how do I format without the backup discs?

It always works whenever I format and such, so I don't know why it would be an issue now...

simply enugh all you have to do to format is stick in the XP cd and then fromat it.

As for why it would mess up this time?
Again, the reason why it is not suggested to 'upgrade' your OS is that it IS an unstable process.

again, I am not saying that I KNOW your problem is bassed off of that.

I am just saying that there is a good chance that doing anytihng with a computer that had ME on it with out a reformat is a quesitonable thing at best.

Sounds like a b0rked vid card drivers issue. Try uninstalling them and using a third party program(e.g. detonator destroyer) to remove all traces found. Then install a known good version of the drivers(preferably something whql or a version you have previously used and know is good. Newest is quite often not best when you are using an old card).

It could be that the drivers you have when you upgraded were not Win ME compatible. Try downloading the newest drivers that are compatible for Win ME from a site that supplies them.

Try getting them from Microsoft Updates though, they seem to be the most reliable you can get.

And if that doesn't work....stick in your WinXP CD, and choose to format your harddisk and install the new OS on it.

And if that STILL doesn't work....try to consider checking if your videocard is plugged in properly. Try reinserting it. But remember that you might chip off a but of your HDD if you're not careful.
