dude, that bolt that holds the stock in place, cut out the middle bit that you dont see, i did and cut out getting close to 450 ploys and 220 vertex's, not a huge amount but they were all useless, and it all helps.
other than it needs a tiny bit of optimisation, its all good. sorry i cant help with meshing of skining though <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
btw, i did this as my first go at modeling and it didnt turn out half as good as yours, gj
