Now I am really sad, Im almost about ready to go by some beer and get drunk I am so depressed right now....
There isn't a market for origanal game ideas anymore. Tis a shame.
I rather like to think it's the balls of the developers that is the biggest obstacle. For me I dont look if it's original or not. But the fun factor, and who can blame me??
Anyway, I dont see how you can **** up about that and a SEQUEL <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Only problem is, they still have to turn out a profit to work. Someone has to pay the bills you know <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?! WHY NOT CANCEL CHRISTMAS?! HOW ABOUT THEY JUST STAB ME IN THE FACE FOUR TIMES!?!?!?!
Waaaahahahahhaha. This sucks. They evaluated the current marked and decided they weren't going to make any dough? How about release it half finished and let us play the crash-to-BSOD every five seconds?! I would have enjoyed that!
It appears that Publishers appear to enjoy being able to churn out pile after pile of poop like "The Sims" Expansion packs every few months, because they know retarded people will buy them, and they wont have to risk spending money on a game with original ideas.

<Aaarrrgh> Neil|Work, pr@lucasarts.com - go on. Write them a long letter. You know you want to.
<Neil|Work> I'll get Peter to do it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Neil happens to work at Lionhead studios. (actually, he might be working at bwgame studios. but erh.. that's irrelevant). Still, it would be awesome if lucasarts happened to receive a disgruntled fanletter from Peter Molyneux himself.
However, also part of me is somewhat relieved. Think of it like you would think about the grandmother with a severe terminal disease who is confined to the hostpital and is in terrible pain. When she finally passes away you're sad that she's gone, however you also have the feeling of knowing that at least she's out of the pain she was in.
Same thing here, LucasArts hasn't really made a good game since Grim Fandango and judging by the trailer from last E3, I think that trend would have continued. I'd rather have no Sam & Max at all than a very crappy Sam & Max sequel (a lesson learned from the Matrix!)

And what a sodding great game that was. I loved the characters, the atmosphere, the locations, the music, the sweet, sweet tie-up ending. Someone really was smoking something special before creating that little gem.

Amen. Manny Calavera, we salute you.
I'm dissapointed, but not all that surprised - the market for quality games is shrinking rapidly. And I don't think Sam and Max 2 was going to be a case of sequilitis.
And I also don't think this is a fault of the game-buying public, I think it's a fault of publishers refusing to allow developers to innovate, and the public just putting up with it.
