Chamber Changes: Ideas

Now keep in mind, these are just some ideas, not necessarily suggestions. I'm pretty sure that some of this won't be all that popular, but I'm just trowing it out there to see what people think.
1. Change Defense Chambers to do what their name implies - give a defense boost to aliens in the area. The DCs would no longer regenerate alien units in the area, but would still heal structures.
2. Allow all types of chambers to be built with only one hive, but make only the first three count towards upgrades. Here's an example to try and explain better:
Situation 1 - When the game starts, 3 players evolve into Gorge. All 3 build Defense chambers. Aliens could get any 1 DC upgrade at level 3. Movement and Sensory chambers could be built, but not contribute to upgrades.
Situation 2 - When the game starts, 3 players evolve into Gorge. Gorge 1 and 2 build Defense Chambers, and Gorge 3 builds a Sensory Chamber. Aliens could get any 1 DC upgrade at level 2, and any SC upgrade at level 1. Movement chambers could be built but not contribute to upgrades.
Situation 3 - When the game starts, 3 players evolve into Gorge. Gorge 1 builds a DC, Gorge 2 builds a MC, Gorge 3 builds a SC. Aliens could get 1 DC upgrade at level 1, 1 MC upgrade at level 1, and 1 SC upgrade at level 1. Additional chambers could be built but would not contribute to upgrades.
This would also mean that what the chambers do themselves would have to be scaled into thirds. So if one of each was built, all three would supply their respective abilites, but only to 1/3 of their usual strength.
Any input is appreciated.

i think focus should be lvl controled...
see ive noticed, that at lvl 1 and 2, focus still does more dmg, but isnt as slow as lvl 3. so i thought "hey why cant we control what lvl of focus we want?" ya know? i prefer getting alot of fast hits rather than 1 good one because bluntly i miss alot. with this, i can adjust the speed and dmg and still do well with focus...
Chambers suffer no penalties. The sheer cost, and the restriction of only having n upgrades (where n is number of hives), means that it isn't too powerful...theoretically. I wish it could be tried, at least.
I'll give an example...
Say you build 3 DCs, and then later build an SC. A marine comes along and shanks one of the DCs and your newb teammates ignore the "structure is under attack". Eventually a skulk bothers to kill him, but by then you lose a DC. Now... Do you now have 2 DC upgrades and 1 SC upgrade? or 2 DC upgrades, and will get a 3rd once you rebuild the DC... Or maybe the next chamber to be dropped would count as the upgrade...but what if you have surplus chambers of the lost chamber...
Personally, if this idea was to be implemented, I would like it so that the 4th chamber built gets assigned the upgrade if you lose one of the initial 3. That way, it makes up for aliens being able to reap the benefits of an SC cloaking field covering most of the map, by having the risk of losing a DC and getting the upgrade replaced by an SC. <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif' /><!--endemo-->
