GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr
DAMN IT.

So I waste my lunch hour today driving to EB to pick up MGS: The Twin Snakes... And I get there and the clerk is all "olo it doesn't come out till tommorrow"

"Wrong zitface, the interweb says today."

"olo well we don't have it!"

*Stabs in the face*

In the short time I had left I drove to Target and they too don't have it. I also contacted Gamestop & Best Buy, neither of them have it either.

SO WHY THE HELL DOES THE ENTIRE INTERNET SAY 3/9 IS THE RELEASE DATE IF NOBODY HAS IT!?!??! :X

GAAAahhhhh >:(

some shops don't have a clue. I wanted to buy star wars galaxies, and i went to currys and PC World first (meh, they were the closest) and they claimed that not only wasn't it out yet, it hadn't actually gone gold.

Went to game and bought it 2 hours later. Same thing (EXACT SAME THING) happened when i went to buy EVE Online.

This is rarely ever a problem for me as I ussually wait for the game to go down in price. Which doesn't work for some games that don't go down in price for years, like HALO on x-box. But I don't care about x-box games 'cuz I don't really need one seeing as almost everyone I know has one. I care about multiplayer more than single player anyway. Stores not having games on release days never bothers me as I rarely know about the dates 'till after the games out anyway.

Almost every "release date" given on the internet or otherwise, is usually the ship date. Add about two days and by then, most places will have it. The same thing happened to me when Call of Duty was supposedly "released".

    *grrrrs thinking about that day*

Nope. Release dates are NOT ship days. Really, ship days are really random.

Most of the reg gaming things, like EBGames, Funcoland, places like that, have the stuff for even a WEEK in advance. Why? So they can put up advertising(which is included in the same box usually), as well as "stock it correctly".

So basically, they're probably just turnin' you like a key man. Sorry.

Ewwwwwww, that's nasty. I'd rather of had Quake III be single player, Unreal Tournament(s) be single player, maybe some SP Everquest, SP Natural-Selection, SP The Specialists...

    Basically, I don't like you

Maybe it's different with PC games then, 'cause my local EB didn't have it for 3 days, neither did Best Buy. I consider Best Buy a gaming place, too.

Then again, it might have to do with the fact I'm in freaking Alabama. I KNOW I won't be seeing UT2004 or BF:V in stores March 15th.

erm shops get them before release date..

we have BF:V at work already to go..

we had Dues ex invisible war for X box for around 5 days b4 it came out too...

suppliers get the games/movies early... i guarantee you they HAD it in the store. but if they have been told not to put it out early thent hey dont.. cos if one store does it.. then for a start ALL store can do it. once one store has broken the chain then all stores follow. but they always report the offending store.. to stop them getting the next title.

this is why woolworths is always so badly stocked on pc games. they used to be good. they are right round the corner from my work.. and they ALWAYS put htings out early.. deus ex invis went out on a wednesday evening.. wasnt due out till friday.

It's okay, Doomeh. I went to Best Buy this past weekend expecting to see at least one copy of Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire to buy, and they said they weren't getting it until later either.

[edit]Yes I'm fully aware it doesn't look like a new game, Wildfire is basically a commercial-grade total conversion of Jagged Alliance 2. Bought it for $20 awhile ago and it was the best money I'd spent on a game since Deus Ex and Fallout.

I'll just scratch my head rather than making a comment on what the above statements might say about expectations for the quality level of games on those consoles (I don't own a console system, and I'm sure there are excellent titles out there for both, but I couldn't resist ).

Closer to topic -- I had some serious problems tracking down Morrowind when it was first released due to EB's monopoly on initial US shipments -- very frustrating.
