He screwed up Resident Evil and he will do the same to AvP because the man is an idiot who thinks he knows what audiences like but hasn't got a clue in reality.

I can see loads of things that are gonna be wrong with AvP the mains ones being...

    1: Clitched characters

2: Storyline not making a whole lot of sense

3: 15 or 12 certificate so theres not much violence

4: Normal sized people playing the predators instead of really tall people like how they should be.

yeah in the UK we have different rating like if a decent movie was going to come out e.g. like T3 , then suddnely they class it as a 12 people of the age 12 and up can watch it! So the means it sucks! AvP must be a 18 or a 15 at least!

if it turns out to be a 12 thats it i dont care wat happens it will suck!

u might as well turn it into an animated series like Finding Nemo and rate it a U

(U = Universal so everyone can see it) !!!!!

well, it's 5 teenage predators, so they can be a bit shorter

So, who do you think is going to win?

    -5 predator teenagers
    -Some whole lot of aliens
-A handful of Whoever wins, we lose? humans (mostly scientists?) who are very surprisingly trapped in the pyramid by pure coincidence during a coming of age massacre, I mean ritual.

The Predator in Predator 1 wasn't excessively tall... if I recall, he was only several inches taller then Dutch (He lifts him a bit off the ground to look him in the eye) and Arnold Schwarzenegger is about 6' 2".

When he says "Really tall" I'm thinking 8 or more. 7 foot is tall, yes, but he wouldn't look out of place on an NBA court. I mean, that Chinese dude is like 7 and and a half.

All four Alien movies, both Predator movies, and Resident Evil were rated R in the US (must be 17 or accompanied by a parent); I think it's likely that this movie will also get an R rating. PG-13 is the "holy grail" these days - the best way to get a huge audience - but some movies just can't be done PG-13, and I daresay AvP is one of them.

Regarding Anderson's accomplishments as a director: I think Resident Evil was a very well put-together movie - the best movie using a video game license, IMO. He wasn't a slave to the (meandering, hole-filled) plot of any of the RE games; instead, he took the basic premise - a virus, zombies, a corporation, and an elite special forces team - and put together a solid movie. The acting was good, the visual direction was very good, and he captured the creepy, wait-for-it essence of the game many times.

She beat up the zombie dogs with martial arts, they shot a giant swarm of zombies without really running out of ammo... what part of all that is resident evil other than the most basic of 'omg zombies' premises? =P

    Also the part where the licker tries to break the glass with it's shoulder was so embarringly bad I laughed out loud. You can clearly see that it's a big cruddy model on a rig that they swing against the glass panel... it even wobbles like if you threw a puppet against a wall ^^;

If it hadn't been a 'resident evil' movie I might've enjoyed it more but as it stands I felt it lacked the resident evil spirit something terrible =/

As for AvP... watch the featurette eek linked ( and was linked in like 3 other avp topics in the past). You'll get to see the director talk about the film and feel your gut sink in despair ^^

"yeah! woo! and the preds are gonna have like this big shuriken thing that's totally not aerodynamic but flies because it's like supar alien tecknologee and you can even use it to like stab people ~starts mimicking stabbing motions~"

...oh, you mean like the disc from the 2nd movie and the games?

I've watched it. There's also a new trailer up at apple.com with actual footage from the movie. I think it's going to be worth seeing.

Yep, yep, that's what he reminded me of...a giddy little kid going, "Look Mommy! They're letting me hold a camera!...Wait, now they want me to shoot a movie...Yay!"

    ...Bah.

I think almost everyone on this board could write a better premise in a day than that entire movie has...

    For reference:
The Predator (in 1 and 2) was played by Kevin Peter Hall who is..fairly tall. With additional predator costume he's a bit higher. He holds Arnold about 8-12 inches off the ground, and bends slightly down to look him in the eyes. Unfortunately, he died in 1991, which is one of the reasons there's been a lack of a Predator movie recently (that and lack of good scripts, funding and how much Danny Glover sucks and shouldn't be able to kill a Predator...).

He also play Harry, from Harry and the Hendersons...so he could be all fluffy when he wanted to, too .

[EDIT] Note that the site linked above has a picture of Kevin Peter Hall next to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The disk at least looks like it'd fly more than 10 foot, that shuriken thing looks extremely badly weighted and has the aerodynamics of a brick compared to the disk. Sure el disko isn't perfect but it's about 10,000 times more plausible looking than the daffy finger blade... which funnily enough seems to do exactly the same thing as the disk. Why do they have them again? =P

    ...I'm guessing baby predator shotput.

And then the disc can just be the discus...hey, they have that spear too, it can be their javelin! Now they're ready for the baby-Predator olympics.

Or, maybe the director is just terrible...I guess it's a judgement call.

You're missing the cruical detail: The man gets to shoot a movie involving the two biggest 'mature' aliens the world of cinema has produced, and the coolest thing he can think of for the intial presentation of his concept is showing off one of the new weapons. I mean, it's a bad sign for a game when the devs are only shouting about how cool their weapons will be; this is a god damned movie! I don't care about secondary fire, I want to be, you know, entertained!

I loves me mys Predators...even if they are terribly done.

I'm with Nemesis here...except instead of eating the popcorn, I'll be throwing it...at the 12 (13 for PG-13 here) in front of me...mwahahaha.

(Yes, I'm the mostest maturestest person ever)

Actually, I'll probably get Milk Duds...they're worse for you and they taste better ( and they hurt more... ). Although I'm with coil on this, it has to be rated R...rating it lower will throw off lots of people who have seen the original films.

Don't you see? The shurikens are the key to the plot!

    [dun, dun, dun]

I too am sure that this movie is probing the depths of "what makes a movie dumb" ideas, Aztec temples = Predator worshipping palaces = hunting grounds for aliens that haven't gotten out, yet they're fairly smart and very dangerous - but the Aztecs kept them in check with bow and arrows and melee weapons = horrible premise.

I'd also like to know how a pyrmaid gets onto Antarctica...but I'm sure all my plot holes will be filled when I go see it.

There was a theatre here "West Picture (Pitcher?) Show" that used to show good movies and had pizza and alcohol...it was more a restraunt with a movie than a movie with food and beer...

You ordered and everything...awesome theatre..until that part of town went down hill, now all they show is...not fit for this forum.
