Optical Mouses

Do logitech mx500 need cleaning?
Hi, this isnt as nub as it sounds I promise!
I've had my little beauty Logitech MX500 here for about 4 months, and its been working like a charm. Excellent control, love the layout, its been a dream, especially compared to my crappy old ball mouse.
However, just recently its been acting like a ball mouse in need of cleaning. You know what I mean, it seems to "catch" on something, and doesnt move all the way. At first I thought it was the actual mouse physically getting stuck on desk, but if I shut my eyes and just moved the mouse, I could tell it was moving perfectly smooth on the table.
I'm really at a loss for what to do, as far as I know laser mouses arent supposed to require cleaning. I've had a look at the laser, and it seems to be in a recession diagonally aligned to the bottom of the mouse, and there is a little bit of dust there. I've blown on it, but I'm really stuck.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh, and I tried switching between USB and PS2, no luck.
Thanks in advance,
Marine01

Also try cleaning the uhh lens.. thingy... where the laser shoots out.
I have checked the "feet" on my mouse, and have cleaned those, as well as the desk, and its still giving me trouble. I even had a friend who had used it in the past come over and try it just to see if he could sense it too, and he reckoned he could.
Clean it eh. Guess laser mouses DO need cleaning after all. Thanks for the help doom.

The lens seems to be dirty or the LED too blocked by dust to iluminate the surface evenly(it doesn't see the movement of the table because dust is giving a shadow that follows your mouse around?).
Doom, if you wash those pads on the bottom of the mouse and grease them up a bit with a greasy piece of paper they seem to be unable to gather that, fluff or whatever it is they pick up for a few weeks.
i used cold water and they were fine
dont get it in the lens workings tho cuz thats not good i promise :/
If im not mistaken this is caused by the laser/light reflecting at diffrent angles due to the surface of the mouse pad.
Another problem can also be colours of the mousepad as they can absorb the light from the laser/light.
My advice is just to use a nice flat surface.
Though you changed between PS2 and USB so I dont think its matter of power supplying.
Considering all the effort here, my guess its due to cords.
