you can use regular halflife textures with no problem, they're included in Steam, as well as old school WON versions.

You can include as many WADs ad you would like, but the safe maximum is 8, and we dont recommend more than that as the compiler will throw a fit sometimes.

besides, you using more than 8, you should break down the textures you are using from each, and make a new single wad to get past that.

alright where is the Wad File in steam. i used my old won HL wad file. they work fine in hammer. but when i load the map to see ingame. there is just a checker board pattern on everything.

the wad file for steam is buried in the huge compressed file. Its not just lying around, you'd have to extract it.

But the one you are using should be fine, if you have the origional halflife.wad file.

    The checker-board thing is puzzling.

are you loading the map using steam or the old hl.exe?
